The plethora of the reaction I'm seeing here in regards to recent news is pretty much why I can't use this site. My heart gets crushed and filled with emotion that isn't healthy. I'll check in now and again, but you can find me on Threads and elsewhere if you wish to chat!

Photograph of a framed print of "Elusive Otter", which is a magical looking Otter with green, mossy fur, and adorned with a flowery mane and horns. It sits at the edge of the water looking up. It's very cute.
When your wife asks you to frame and hang an Elusive Otter print by @elbenherzart.bsky.social, by golly, you frame and hang it well.

Photo of my backyard facing the window in my basement. The garden is lush, full of flowering clover, Queen's lace, elephant grass, bergonia, and coral bells. All growing beneath a lilac bush.
I'm fairly certain that fairies dance outside my basement window.

I'm not sure how I feel about going through the first Father's Day without my dad. As I work toward my own adoption, there was the hope that he and I could soon celebrate this day together. But that's not happening anymore.
Hug your dads today. Call them.
Love them.

Picture of stained glass depicting common symbols of the Holy Trinity: the Hand of God the Father (top), the Lamb of God the Son (bottom left), and the descending dove of the Holy Spirit (right)
Photo of a page from the Lutheran Service Book, page 319, which discusses and displays the Athanasian Creed in its entirety. The intro is as follows:
"Early in the fourth century, a north African pastor named Arius began teaching that Jesus Christ was not truly God. The Church responded decisively in AD 325 with a statement of faith (The Nicene Creed), which confessed that Jesus is, in fact, true God. Toward the end of the fifth century, another creed was written that delved further into the mystery of the Trinity. Though attributed to Athanasius, a fourth-century opponent of Arius, this anonymous creed clearly came at a later stage in the debate. The Athanasian Creed declares that its teachings concerning the Holy Trinity and our Lordβs incarnation are βthe catholic faith.β In other words, this is what the true Church of all times and all places has confessed. More than fifteen centuries later, the Church continues to confess this truth, confident that the triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, has given Himself for our salvation."
Today is Trinity Sunday, which means reciting the Athanasian Creed in its entirety at Divine Service this morning!
Some see it as a drag as it's such a long creed, but I adore it. I look forward to it every year.

Kinda how I felt moving from our apartment of 10+ years to our first home. We made lots of memories there. But the good thing about memories is you can take them with you! They'll be by your side as long as you cherish them.
Wishing you two a safe move and a home to make prosperous new memories in.

I have my hands in a few fantastical cookie jars. Brandon Sanderson, CS Lewis, Stephen Lawhead. They're amongst my favorite authors as well.

I'm sorry on behalf of my WoT friends.
I can only hope that means they'll be really cranking up the effort on ROP as Amazon places more of its focus (and funding) toward it.

Screenshot of part of a Google Document page. The text itself reads:
The Thorongwing was fully loaded. The last of the supply barrels had been set into its hold and the hatch lay firmly shut and secured. The dockhands, TankamΓ‘ and ThalatΓ’l, eased the loading crane into its resting position and made their way to the boarding ramp to begin the undocking procedures. Neither said a word to each other, nor to CΓrdan himself, who stood aside to observe the final preparations. They did not need to. Having overseen launches such as this for as long as they have, each had fully understood what was needed and carried it out with swift efficiency.
CΓrdan caught movement at the prow of the ship. A youthful elf had run across the deck, inspecting the carved eagle at the head. She then turned with a grin, shouting at a younger lad - her brother, according to the manifest. The faint edges of a smile poked through CΓrdanβs beard as the boy weaved around three of the crew to reach her. By all rights, they could have scolded the child for his recklessness on deck, but they laughed merrily at his carefree joy instead. All who were on the Thorongwing were in good humor that day. After all, this was the day they would sail West.
βLord CΓrdan!β came a rich voice from atop the ramp as a tall figure strode down to meet him. Maeglor, appointed the shipβs captain at CΓrdanβs insistence, gave a respectful nod as he turned to face the proceedings onboard. His golden hair was bunched in a tight braid over his shoulder, contrasting with CΓrdanβs own loose, silver locks. He gave a quick nod of satisfaction before turning back to face the shipwright.
βFifty-six on the manifest - crew included - and all accounted for on board,β reported Maeglor. βCargo and supplies are secured. We are set to depart, my lord.β
(NOTE: the rest is cut off due to alt text character length, but you get the gist, I'm sure)
Okay, fine, I'm writing the CΓrdan fic again. Twist my arm, why doncha

I honestly did this with both The Silmarillion AND The Lord of the Rings. Failed the first time I attempted both.
Set them aside for another time, tried again when I was ready, and now they're some of my favorite of read literature.

Similarly, if you WANT to read a book and are struggling for any reason to get through it, you can just. Put it down. At any point! And save it for later to try again. Don't struggle to the point of hating something you want to enjoy.

Heads up! You can stop reading a bad book. At any point. You're not beholden to the book or the author.
Don't let the sunk cost fallacy defeat you.

A monochrome photo of my mother when she was quite young!
Happy Mother's Day to the wonderful woman who brought me into being. She instilled within me a gentle, patient spirit and taught me the loving kindness that shaped my view of the world. God bless her and all like-minded mothers on this earth. Thank you for being you, mom.

I wish there were a way for me to either read more quickly or have more time to read. I struggle to get through even two books a month, yet my TBR list is ever-growing.
Any tips from voracious readers, especially those with full-time jobs, on how you get through what you do?

A two-panel meme. In the top panel is Syril Karn's face over that of the Scarlet Witch with the quote "You took everything from me."
The second panel is Cassian Andor's face over that of Thanos with the response "I don't even know who you are."
#Andor really did the meme this week
