Titled Strong for the People from my Still There collection, 2023. My inspiration was a photo of Penahwenonmi (Helping Another, 1840-1938), a survivor of the Nez Perce War (1877).She and the Nez Perce call themselves Nimíipuu (the Real People). Nez Perce women were active participants in the war.

Titled Wounded Knee from my I’m a Better Artist than You collection, 2022. Inspired by one of my best artist friends [that I’ve never met]. In my mind the image presents an American Indian spirit figure, a ghost dancer. The Wounded Knee Massacre (Dec 1890) killed 250 Lakota men, women and children.

Titled Dis from my Selva Oscura [Italian: Dark Forest] collection, 2025. Inspired by The Divine Comedy, Dante’s Inferno, the narrative poem by Dante Alighieri (1265–1321). At the end Dante finds the Devil at the bottom of the last of 9 levels of Hell. Dis is the Roman name for the underground god.

A BluSky repost for Greek Moothology fans. Titled Pasiphaë from my Bouillon Cubes collection, 2025. Pasiphaë, wife of King Minos and mother of the Minotaur monster. Minos insulted Posiden’s gift of a white bull, the god caused Pasiphaë to fall in love with the bull resulting in the monster.

Titled The Great Lover from my Silent Men collection, 2024. Inspired by a publicity photo of American film actor, John [Jack] Gilbert (1897–1936). He rose to fame during the silent era and became a popular leading man known as "The Great Lover." Jack’s career declined with Talkies and alcohol.

Titled Tobe Spirit from my Portals collection, 2025. The piece depicts an American Indian, a “spirit to be”, a ghost, waiting in a Chaco Canyon Purgatory. At the back of the rooms is a doorway/portal to another level of the underworld, but the ghost subject must wait until the right time comes.

Titled Punishment from my Artic Hero series, 2025. Ada Blackjack (1898–1983), an Iñupiaq on an all white male expedition to Wrangel Island, north of Siberia. She was treated poorly by the other members [to include being tied to a flagpole] - but Ada and a pet cat were the only expedition survivors.

Titled Tomiclock from my Alaska collection, 2025. In 1897 six children from AK traveled 5,000 to The Carlisle Indian School in PA - Tomiclock was one of them, an Iñupiaq. Of the six, 3 died at Carlisle and only one ever returned to AK. Tomiclock died a 15 year old “Eskimo” girl at Carlisle.

Titled Spider Spirit from my Mensajes Antiguos (Spanish = Old Messages) collection, 2025. Inspired by a gold Inca Spider (1432-1572). The Inca evolved out of the Cupisnique and Chavin cultures who worshipped spider qualities. Spiders, associated with rain, come out of hiding before it rains.
