This is similar to how I experience whatever it is that other people experience as gender. Pure improv energy. My "gender" is just whatever the current bit calls for.

Episode 43 of the Kilauea eruption is a BEAST. They just zoomed out and uhhh this may be on its way to setting a record for tallest lava fountains. What on Earth. πŸ˜πŸŒ‹

Isn’t it funny how every headline isn’t about how unaffordable ground chuck is the way we had to hear about eggs every single day?

Hm. What could be the difference?

Yeah, I'm sure being hit with all of winter's gas right as summer's electricity is kicking in will be completely fine. πŸ™ƒ

PG&E's solution for the impossible gas charges is to not put any gas charges whatsoever on our bill until they figure it out.

Presumably this means two months or more of gas on a bill when they finally play catch up.

Just gonna budget for that now I guess.

If you took your kid to the doctor recently for any reason, there's a one in five chance you walked away with an off-label prescription. Nearly half of all pediatric prescriptions are off-label.

Considering some of the leaps in analysis I've seen in research thanks to AI, I have no doubt it will make huge advances in that kind of modeling.

Discussing it is a huge minefield though because of the ways all the terms around it have been used, misused, and poisoned.

I always thought Edison was more of a ruthless grifter than anything, but turns out he was a real fucking monster!

Had Alexander Graham Bell had his way instead of society opting for Thomas Edison's suggestion of 'hello' as the official greeting for phone calls, we'd all be saying 'ahoy' to one another.

This is what they took from us.

Millions of Americans can now claim Canadian citizenship by descent. But they have to prove it | CBC News Amid rising tensions in the United States and increased global volatility, many Americans are looking to Canada β€” and their roots β€” for a possible way out following recent changes to Canada’s citizens...

Gonna drop this in here : Canada recently changed the rules on citizenship by descendence, opening it up from one generation to pretty much "whenever". For folks who have **any** Canadian ancestry (which is a lot of the US), there is a path to citizenship in Canada. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

This message is brought to you by the people who do not understand these results or, in fact, how popularity metrics work at all.

If the US must have news media completely obsessed with polls, this requires a populace that is capable of reading a poll and understanding statistics.

Since we don't have a populace capable of that, people do not understand the news, even in its most useless, watered down, horse race version.

ECCC was fun and I had a wonderful time.

But there was a storm cloud. When I complained about Trump with my white straight cis friends, we were all sincere and concerned.

But I talked with many Trans friends, and it’s so much worse. They are in fear for their lives.

I find it distressing how many people don't understand that the point of higher education is deep knowledge and not just to produce the work.

How can anyone evaluate if the AI is correct or not if no one has developed a knowledge base and critical thinking skills?

How to make yogurt: milk a cow, homogenize + pasteurize the milk, heat up the milk again, let it get back down to 110 F, stir in some bacterial culture, let it sit for 8-12 hours, add fruit/sugar to taste.
How to make ultra-processed yogurt: Do all that and then add a drop of food coloring.

DEAR ABBY: I’ve been married to the same man for nearly 50 years. We raised a sweet family, had successful careers, and never strayed from each other. For the last 20-plus years, I’ve had little or no desire for sex. I understand it medically as well as emotionally, but Hubby doesn’t get it at all. He thinks we should be like we were back in the ’70s and ’80s.

I’m happy for senior couples who engage in healthy sexual relationships. I am just no longer into it and, honestly, also not interested in taking medication to β€œenhance” me. What’s wrong with a man taking something to β€œunenhance” himself? I know the biblical duty God gave for procreation, hence, 100-year-old men fathering children with young women. The balance has never been BALANCED.

Yes, I had a hysterectomy 20 years ago. After that, I lost all interest, yet Hubby still had needs. Some are met; many are not. It is now a BIG issue. I’d like to sail peacefully through the next 10 years, if I have that long. I’d like him to find happiness, too. Is it crazy to divorce over such an age-old need for a man? β€” HAPPY THIS WAY IN SOUTH CAROLINA

DEAR HAPPY: β€œCastrating” your husband is not the answer. If you two can agree on an arrangement that will benefit both of you, it would be emotionally and financially far less disruptive than a divorce.

i love when someone writes into Dear Abby with a nuanced human question about sexuality/relationships/whatever and Dear Abby's response is basically "fuck you they don't pay me by the word"

Pixar was the single handed most misogyny I ever experienced to my face in my life, stemming from my work being "too girlish" with an insinuated, but never directly stated "and too gay", while also complaining that I was perplexing for not behaving like their perception of a normal "woman"

Ahhh, I'd missed that detail on my skim. So she's trying to mask her own interests by pretending farming is a fantasy version of itself. I should have realized, since that posturing seems to be the same among her ilk across the entire country.

The article is strangely written by a supposedly rural writer, as if big automated farms aren't farms and the term "farmer" refers specifically to people who do all the labor on a farm themselves.

I don't know who Suzan Ezram is, but she doesn't seem to actually know how agriculture works.

Meet Lariocidin: A Game-Changing Antibiotic That Outsmarts Resistance The study reveals lariocidin, a potent ribosome-targeting antibiotic, with unique mechanisms that could combat drug-resistant bacterial infections effectively.

First discovered last year, a lasso-shaped peptide called lariocidin kills bacteria in a way that’s never been seen before - and because its germ-killing mechanism is new, something bacteria haven’t had time to adapt to, it’s awesome in the fight against drug-resistant microbes. AZO

I'm not competing with Gene here (cause I'd lose - look at the detailed paneling, the carpeting, the brick: I know a masterpiece when I see one). But if we're sharing pictures of action figures, here's something my wife and I cooked up more than a decade ago: "Away Team in a Manger."
