There is no one "perfect system", there's only systems that do what you need them to do better or worse for what you're trying to run/play. Trying to make everything (genre/story/etc...) fit one model is a recipe for stress and heartache.

it's such a fun type of art to play around with, especially for me with my shaky hands. If you wanna get into it on a desktop PC, the golden standard is Aseprite. Twenty bucks, but if you have the technical know-how you can compile it yourself for free.
This is also why it's so important that kids know being trans is a possibility. I didn't. It could have saved me decades of agony.

Surgeries are a stopgap and more relevant to those who transition later in life. For those that knew they were trans at pre/mid-puberty, the most effective method is to start transitioning BEFORE the hormonal effects force us into a body we THEN have to correct with painful procedures.
