My photo shows a small clay aryballos (oil flask) in the form of a hedgehog. It has a rounded, squat body with a long pointed snout. At the top of the body is a small spout for filling with oil. Sculpted details include eyes and ears ears. The light tan surface is painted with dark spots representing the hedgehog’s spines. It measures 4.8 cm in length and 3 cm in height. Dated circa 550 BC. From Naucratis, Egypt.

Our dependency on fossil fuels makes us vulnerable. Wars across the world are pushing up prices for households in the UK.
Why keep waiting for the next crisis? We need to transition to clean power as fast as we can to protect people and our economy.

If being unexpectedly hospitalized extends your vacation for a few days, Queenstown New Zealand is not a bad place to be. It was a sad reminder of why “medical tourism” has become so commonplace in the US. I received top-notch care for one-tenth of what it would have cost in the US.

Glasgow's Union Corner in 1981 with Renault Fuego in foreground.
The building destroyed by fire in Glasgow is Union Corner. Designed by architect James Brown, it was built in 1851 for stationers Francis Orr & Sons. For years there was a Barr’s Irn Bru illuminated ad over the roofline and a neon Bell’s Scotch whisky sign on the dome. This view was taken in 1981.
