In some ways they remind me of songs and rituals. I enjoy writing them for my own setting as like an exercise in worldbuilding
I like too that there are different preambles and ending lines depending on where the tale is from that signify the story is starting and the story is ending
Sitting here thinking about how fairytales follow patterns and feature a lot of repetition and I wonder if it is because it makes things easier to remember if the plot is basically the same action 3 times but with copper, silver, and then gold before something different happens and then cue moral

I used like five different inks to color them in this picture, like… just making them flat black doesn’t work, I have tried this, it just not satisfying and it is super hard to like avoid their form getting muddied
