There was a small chance that one of them would make a middle bet to play for a wildcard. If they did, I assumed they’d try to stay above what I had, if I bet 0. I bet a small amount, on the off chance they did that and I was the only one to get final right. No real risk for me, potential reward.

I started reading the Murderbot books after I watched the first season on Apple TV. I love them. Even if a certain blond vampire weren't playing the lead, I would still be saying that I love the little Murderbot and I think we should all give him a big hug and let him watch his serials. 🤖
There are plenty of studies to show men will apply for jobs they are tangentially qualified for where women only apply if they fit the profile 100%. Apart from anything else, leaping to BECAUSE OF WOKE betrays a crass lack of intelligence about basic sociological factors anyone can grasp.
