everyone says 'prioritize your health' 'look after yourself' until they realize that making your wellbeing your first priority means making everything else a lower priority. and yeah, that's sometimes ok if it's temporary, but if those health issues are chronic? oh boy do they not like it when you actually take their advice. sometimes prioritizing your health means neglecting your work, your household chores, your social life. 'looking after yourself' means not putting your energy into looking after everyone else first. and the same people who tell you to prioritize your health will get upset with you when they realize it means you're no longer priorizing them.
if you have disabled or chronically ill people in your life and you extend them sympathy and tell them to look after themselves when they're feeling sick, but then you get upset at then because they keep canceling plans. please. reevaluate.

Jesse Jackson was an early political ally for the LGBTQ. He did a lot of AIDS activism. He was the first major U.S. presidential candidate to include LGBTQ+ rights in his platform (candidate for 1984, 1988 primaries), anti-discrimination laws, and openly gay service members.

Okay, actually doing this now.
Because with the sun setting on the second full day after the nazis came after me in person, I’m realizing no mainstream media cares to cover it and no press freedom cares to condemn it.
I don’t want to spend too much time with that realization and its implications!

Huffman, Raskin Lead Call for Investigation of "Armageddon" Briefings
Thirty Democrats ask Pentagon inspector general to investigate military briefings allegedly casting Iran as a Christian holy war
BREAKING: @rephuffman.bsky.social, @raskin.house.gov, @pelosi.house.gov, and 27 other Dems call on Pentagon IG to investigate alleged "Armageddon" briefings.
Complaints of holy war rhetoric were made to @mikeymrff.bsky.social after U.S. hit Iran, as I reported Monday.
My report on today's letter:

Brian McGinnis' wife has
NOT been allowed to see him in the hospital.
He is currently awaiting surgery for severe injuries.
Legal counsel has also been denied access.
A Marine veteran.
A firefighter.
A father of four.
And his family still cannot see him.
so apparently Brian McGinnis has been denied access to both his family and legal representation since a sitting senator broke his arm

British Columbia’s Freedom of Information system was once considered one of the strongest in the world. It was built on a simple democratic principle: government information belongs to the public.
Amendments in Bill 9 eviscerate freedom of information in BC. Access delayed is access denied.

When I still worked as a physician, I tried to avoid, "How are you, today?" I usually went with, "What brings you in, today?"...Occasionally, this resulted in, "If I knew, I wouldn't be here."

The Tyee is proud to have published this important investigation by @rachelgilmore.bsky.social. We condemn this egregious harassment of a journalist for doing her job, and have offered support as she deals with this disturbing situation.

All caps: PREORDERS MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF A BOOK
as @charliejane.bsky.social explains here: ”When you pre-order a book, you are taking a more active role in supporting that book and that author, and it makes your relationship with both quite a bit more meaningful.”

The wind and the sun don’t need to transit the Strait of Hormuz
Remember: we are price-takers, not price-makers. We depend on customers. And while their near-term priorities will revolve around securing supplies of oil and LNG, their longer-term ones will focus even more intently on diversifying away from those supplies.

The Most Chilling Detail in the U.S. Attack on an Iranian Naval Ship
The Iranian warship was taking part in an international exercise with many other countries—including the United States.
This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

Graphic featuring a quote in the centre, which reads:
“Covid-19 has a profound and lasting impact on cardiovascular health, with complications emerging during acute illness, recovery, and even after reinfections or vaccination.”
Dr. Vassilios Vassiliou, lead author of “Cardiovascular disease prevention and management in Covid-19,” a clinical consensus statement
The text is placed on a background showing an ECG chart with a subtle navy and teal gradient overlay.
There is strong research evidence that Covid-19 and Long Covid increase the risk of many cardiovascular conditions, including heart attacks, clotting events, POTS, vascular ageing and more.
