I knew it'd be good because the manga is that powerful, and the team behind the adaptation may not be glamorous, but they're reliable. The way they've forged an identity of their own that even exploits limitations (short runtime -> neat structural changes) has been an incredible surprise, though!
Sad to see someone who was desperate for help and happened to come across the Michael Jordan of killing people, which of course leads to catastrophic failure immediately because you can't imitate that. Tragic but also... delicious...

You can appreciate the range of excellence in the animation. Within a team where multiple artists are fond of lower drawing count cuts, there's also one drawn in the 1s for that dream-like effect. Notice how deliberate the fluttering is too, chock-full of unique drawings but consistent in motion
The promotional campaign has been remarkably stingy, like they know the show is so good that people might overdose if they show crumbs that are a bit too large. Buddy this is a show about drinking, let me overestimate my ability to handle it
