Love to see this from SF. Iβm going to assume this is from high EV penetration, anyone have insight into local casual effects?

Same. I put this on when it came out, not knowing much what to expect and was blown away.
Unpopular opinion but turning right at a red light should not be legal in San Francisco (or anywhere else). Right on red makes horrors like this all too possible. sfstandard.com/2026/03/03/m...

Easy, Danny DeVito.
Matches my experience, can't go back. ICE feels like a clunky tractor.
SML at SFJAZZ
Delightful SML show at SFJAZZ last night. Noise Pop always comes through.
Previous reports have tips like "consider buying an EV" when, like, I'm on an EV rate! You KNOW we have an EV, half of our energy consumptions is due to EV charging using our EV2-A rate!
Top recommended tips from my PG&E Weekly Home Energy report. "Cook efficiently with a portable induction cooktop."
The weekly @pacificgaselectric.bsky.social Home Energy Reports are so frustratingly unhelpful.
Yes, I've already done the PG&E energy audit and told you that my home is all-electric, with an induction stove!
So why surface tips that are utterly unhelpful?
Final EIA-860 is out, and 2025 really did it: 54 GW of new U.S. electric capacity, 96% clean. Solar again carries the offense, and we built more storage in 2025 than the cumulative total through 2023. More and more and more additions... but also record low retirements.

White Lexus with Florida plates parked on street and covered with snow.
This is why it's helpful to call it "car storage" instead of "parking."
Oooh, please do SF next!
Super Bowl LX logo.
LOVE the Super Bowl logo on the field with combo of Golden Gate Bridge, SF city skyline, and redwood trees. A+. ππ

"But what about China?" has been a throwaway comment made many times to justify inaction on climate change or criticise decarbonisation policies.
Well China is now by far the world's largest manufacturer, installer, and user of clean energy technologies.
Luna Coffee subscription for January 2026.
Another incredible month of coffee from Luna. Same producer, two different cultivars, both amazing and roasted to perfection. βοΈ

this false spring in the Bay Area on Super Bowl week beginning to piss me off. the very nice weather deprives SF tourists a core local experience: frantically buying a $100 low-quality sweatshirt bc the fog rolled in and they are caught in shorts and a t-shirt
Amazing new study: For every additional 200 electric cars in ZIP codes across California, unhealthy nitrogen dioxide emissions decreased by 1.1 percent. grist.org/solutions/ev...
It's pretty simple, you can care about preserving free curbside parking or you can care about housing costs, homelessness and climate change.
The tyranny of Gargamel and Azrael was real.
New Shackleton album is a wonderful, dubby, zonked out gem. Propulsive but maybe one of his more linear and melodic releases.

Your regular reminder that when folks say "its cold outside where I live, what happened to global warming?" that the world is big, and weather still exists.
Jeremiah Chiu & Marta Sofia Horner at SFJAZZ
Incredible show at SFJAZZ tonight with Jeremiah Chiu & Marta Sofia Horner playing @intlanthem.bsky.social βDifferent Roomsβ live. A spiritual sound bath experience.
Brigit Hirsch, an E.P.A. spokeswoman, said in an email that the agency was still considering the health effects of fine particulate matter and ozone, but was no longer assigning them a dollar value in cost-benefit analyses. βWeβre not putting a dollar value on those impacts right now,β she said. βThat does not mean E.P.A. is ignoring or undervaluing them.β Ms. Hirsch did not comment on whether the agency would stop using the value of a statistical life for all regulations beyond clean-air rules. But in general, she said, βsaying we arenβt attaching a dollar figure to health effects is like saying we arenβt putting a price tag on clean air or safe drinking water. Dollars and cents donβt define their worth.β
The to understand the rhetorical trick: Saying that the value of a statistical life is too uncertain that you're not going to include it means that you're implicitly assigning it a value of zero.
We had our two street trees in front of our house die (naturally) and we have been waiting YEARS for the city to plant new ones, despite repeated requests.
Unless the city addresses this, our tree canopy will continue to shrink. I donβt see anything shared in this article that will help.
