I wrote about how the US and Israel carried out an attack on an Iranian girls school on par with the OKC bombing and US media relegated it to a back page story. No stand alone evening news segments, no front page stories, it made A11 in the NYT then everyone moved on.

This has the added bonus of encouraging infrastructure development by developers. If you allow density then maybe it's worthwhile for a developer to pay a city to extend a water or sewer line, or develop a private water/sewer utility managed by a village district or HOA.

The idea doesn't clash with the engineering constraints. If a site has the utilities to support density then zoning can't stop density. If the site doesn't have the utilities to support density then zoning doesn't matter. Places with infrastructure get denser and places without do not.
