A meme using the “Distracted Boyfriend” format.
The man, labeled “TRUMP,” is turning away from a woman labeled “FEMA DISASTER ASSISTANCE,” who looks shocked and offended.
He is looking approvingly at another woman labeled “UNCALLED FEDERAL ASSISTANCE TO SILENCE PROTESTS,” implying a preference for using federal resources to crack down on protests instead of helping people affected by disasters.
A meme using the “Drakeposting” format, with two panels:
Top panel: Drake is dismissively holding up his hand to reject “Emergency workers for disaster relief.”
Bottom panel: Drake is smiling and pointing approvingly at “Armed forces to silence protestors,” implying a preference for militarized response over humanitarian aid.
Classic "Kombucha Girl" meme left panel: Kombucha girl is “Emergency workers for disaster relief.”
Right panel: kombucha Girl is smiling and pointing approvingly at “Armed forces to silence protestors,” implying a preference for militarized response over humanitarian aid.
Classic soda Meme criticizing President Trump for respond to protest with federal troops on one end and on the other end respondingto disasters without federal aid.
The Trump administration is full on contradictions, but gutting FEMA at the start of hurricane season and calling up the military over state objections both show its lack of concern for public safety and wellbeing.

Image of a large fossil fuel power plant with thick black smoke billowing into an orange-tinted sky. Below the image is a quote on a black background that reads:
"It’s galling to watch the US government so thoroughly debase itself as it sacrifices the public good to boost the bottom line of fossil fuel executives.”
—Julie McNamara, Associate Director, Policy, Climate and Energy
The quote is from the Union of Concerned Scientists.
Today is a dark day for climate: The EPA announced its plans to unravel critical safeguards that protect people from harmful carbon emissions and hazardous air pollution released by fossil fuel-fired power plants.

This is a real thing being posted and circulated by the Department of Homeland Security, referring to undocumented immigrants as “foreign invaders” and urging good Americans to turn them in.
(I’ll leave it to BlueSky historians to find comparisons to WWII era materials.)

There is a difference between 1) having emotions about the state of the world and 2) trying to convince people that it’s too late to act on climate (a false premise that assumes climate change is pass/fail when it’s a matter of degrees).
Impeding climate action is complying in advance.
