Energy Trades Program Instructor reported a lower wages comparable to state certified teachers. She notes other districts such as Oak Park pay higher salaries and DPSCD has been losing staff because of pay.

A teacher of DPSCD reported a concern for students whose families have been affected by the recent ice raids. She reports increased needs including housing, transit, lowered attendance and additional services.
Muslim students report a concern for missing financial incentive for school attendance in observance of Ramadan. Suggestion includes parent verification of holiday observance and including dates in the next school calendar year.

Report staffing shortages in DPSCD with overwhelming caseloads and resulting in staff burnout. There is a request for increase in qualified staff for better working conditions.
Non homestead operating levy motion carried and Superintendents report adopted by board.
Board noted DPSCD has paid off its own debt without incurring additional costs and is predicted to be debt free by 2040.
Approach to absenteeism at 55% was questioned by an attendee. Transit to school, incentives for students and keeping contacts with families are amongst some of the strategies to increase attendance were noted.
Year to date updates for Strategic Plan includes increased student enrollment of over 49,000 students, lowered absenteeism of 55%, College Readiness at 31 % and high school graduation rates at 83%. Showing increased improvement in many metrics.
Principal of Marbury Elementary discusses the literacy programs being implemented including multilingual teaching and literacy block instruction for that has been proving successful with students.
Letβs Read volunteers also being recognized for their volunteer contributions for Literacy services to students and families of DPSCD.
