I can't speak on if a pcp can proscribe it but I personally get mine from a psychiatrist!! I would recommend just asking them for options and explain that you have either had a bad experience with ssris (which was my case) or that they make you feel uneasy

I don't know if this insight is helpful at all, but I was very much the same way up until last year! I personally take propranolol, which is an as-needed anxiety med that has helped me a great deal. Because it's not something like an SSRI it doesn't have the side effects that scare people off
