Great kickoff workshop for the launch of the #Sandpiper project! It was a real pleasure to be invited as a panelist—and a special treat to return to my beloved St. Anthony Falls Lab. I’ve missed that place!

Excited to follow the progress of Sandpiper and its incredible team of PIs!

The original mini-tank, designed and built by Jim Mullin, that was used to test and demonstrate how removing gravel could be used to generate arbitrary subsidence patterns

Under the tank you can see the tubes that were used to transport the gravel to create the desired subsidence patterns

Yesterday I got a tour of the eXperimental Earth Scape facility, also known as Jurassic Tank, at St. Anthony Falls Laboratory. Even though the tank has not been used since 2015, a lot of the data from it is available and it is an important piece in the history of sedimentary geoscience
