First pilot study of the Northern Michigan University Energetics Lab on black bears across the Michigan Upper Peninsula! The ultimate project’s goal is to study the unique adaptations, e.g. thermoregulation & body protein sparing, during the hibernation fast & inactivity of the American black bear.

Very cool documentary video - Thanks for sharing! Only one comment on the title: we should stop using sleep-related terms to refer to hibernation & torpor which have nothing to do with sleep processes. This is even highlighted in the documentary itself!
Instead of spending big money to recruit a few dozen academics from outside of Canada, I wish the Liberals invested in the outstanding talent coming out of our PhD programs. Postdocs could be extended (#, duration) for large numbers for the same price. It is top-down, headline seeking politics.
