“live stunt choreography” is a perfect description of “professional” wrestling.

As someone pointed out-- it's the same reason why people watch fictionalized television and scripted dramas--- *and* can watch real-life news/documentaries.
Or read fiction and non-fiction. We are hardwired for stories-- for entertainment, distraction, connection, and to make sense of the world.
1/ Roland Barthes answered this exact question in 1957. His essay "The World of Wrestling" argues pro wrestling isn't a sport pretending to be real. Instead, it's theater. It’s a live “morality play” where heroes and villains act out justice through exaggerated physical storytelling.
Also-- at the end of the day-- sports are entertainment as well...
I mean, I *still* want to be a pro-wrestler at my big age, so.
BREAKING: Graber is out as CEO of Blueksy.

There's also a lot to be said for the "Great White Hope" storyline, which traces back to boxing's early from American times of segregation
Oh the French & their passion to analyze combat sports! Have you heard of Loïc Wacquant, the French sociologist whose sensational first book was about training as a boxer (to compete for real, not as fitness). Intellectually, he's a lineal descendant of Baudrillard:

Performance martial arts.
Thank you so, so much!
Maybe that's how you start-- the conversation with her. You can still have it in a way-- channel it. I find myself still talking to my dad these days.
Aw. She looks sweet. Like I would want to toast with her too!
Interestingly--- I've just been wanting to write and read books right now. My dad always had tons of books around, and was always scribbling notes.
<3 Thank you
Thank you so much.

"He sipped his tea. 'You don’t belong to Mommy or me. We don’t own you. You belong to the universe. You just came through us.'"
I feel this so acutely
I see it-- and thank you.
Ahhh. I'm so, so sorry. Your daddy will be resting with the angels. Be brave, sweet girl.
Yeah. Keeping busy is keeping me sane.
This is also a great reminder--- thank you.
I really like this--- thank you for the guidelines.
Whenever I felt like I couldn’t handle it, I’d remind myself that as children, we are the only ones who can speak to what they were like as parents, the lessons they imparted, the love they gave, in a unique way. You telling those stories only you can tell is the best way to keep their spirit alive
Thank you--- this is helpful
Jokes! Yes jokes help
Balancing the family part has been... interesting
A chance to do some divine channeling... beautiful.
Some advice... try to talk to him as much as you can, and to people who know your dad.
Once he passes, people will be full of stories--- and at least in my case, I've learned so much more about my dad as a person in the last few months of his life than he might have told me while he was here.
