But what I am not okay with is older men thinking I’m their emotional and s-xual salvation in being LGBTQ+. It’s just as creepy if it were an older straight man preying on teenage girls/young adult women.

It’s not just tribal communities, but I’m speaking from a tribal youth. I don’t think this gets addressed often as being LGBTQ+ is a rough experience as is and everyone has their healing, recovery and need for community regardless of age.

I implore older closeted and DL LGBTQ+ men to do your own healing and look inwards rather than projecting your issues onto LGBTQ+ children. We are not your salvation. We are first and foremost YOUTH.

This gets especially tricky when these men work in tribal communities with tribal youth who often are just discovering their roles, identities and voices while undergoing and navigating through generational trauma and institutional r-cism.

I want to talk about this openly, not as an effort to “out” any man that has approached me like this, but to let younger queer people know that this is not okay. It should never be okay for us to be the healing space by enduring predatory behavior.

However, my identity and my relationship to my identity does not and SHOULD NOT be an open door to dump your years of s-xual repression, hidden k-nks and borderline s-xual harassment towards me solely because I openly identify as LGBTQ+.

I understand that in previous generations, it was incredibly unsafe for them to be openly out or felt a sense of fear and rejection around their identity. So when they see young openly queer people like me, it gives them a sense of security and hope in contrast to the era they were raised in.

One thing I’ve personally found to be an incredibly uncomfortable experience growing up openly Genderqueer and queer in my attraction to others is that older queer (often closeted) men (who often have watched me grow up from being a child) approach me in an inappropriate manner solely bc im LGBTQ+.

There’s a lot of conversation online in recent years about reconnecting natives facing rejection from rez n8vs and how “mean” we are

But are we going to talk about the elephant in the room: urban + reconnecting natives and exploiting cultural teachings for profit? or is no one ready for that yet?

I know it’s on every social media platform, however, the filter system on those two platforms is so poor quality. I feel like everything is way better controlled/controllable on Bsky and even Instagram (i really love the filtering comments feature there)

but so much of tiktok has become the cesspool that twitter has been for so long where it is just constant unfiltered/uncontrolled negativity, outright hate speech and discrimination so openly. +

I know this sounds really ungrateful and goofy, but I physically cannot stand posting + interacting on tiktok anymore. I know it’s the platform that garnered me 120,000+ followers and made me an “indigenous content creator” +

MMIW isn’t just mancamps and r-cist white boys in border towns/cities. Although they are a huge contributor to the epidemic. It also is in our own communities, the deadliest cases are. Both urban and reservation.

I’ve been too scared to tell anybody about that experience and who it was outside of people i’m close to because he is so revered. I couldn’t afford health insurance at the time, so I have no proof. Too many native women I know have the same/similar stories.

Within the past year, I was consistently s-xually harassed by an influential native man in this area. When I started talking about it, everyone said he “did it to every woman” and “he isn’t capable of harm.” And then he r00f!3d me (ironically at an event for MMIW/violence against native women)

I remember when my mom came out about her abusive relationship with my dad, no one supported or believed her. When I ended up in an abusive relationship with a native man myself, no one believed or supported me. It’s sadly the same for too many Indigenous women, children and 2S.

yk one thing that really frustrates me is that everyone is doing a huge show about MMIW and violence against women, children and two spirit, but as soon as one of us comes out to say a man in our native communities is hurting us, everyone is quick to brush it off or silence us.

That scene in sinners where he summons the spirits of his ancestors and those not yet born with his music :,)) gave me chills
