Spoilers: Wagner & Allgoodโs paper on navigating queerness & regionality in LGBTQIA+ finding aids had me cheering at my desk. Iโll wait until after the conference to say more.

I spent my research time today reading precirculated papers for Queer Bibliographies 2026.
I am deeply grateful that this will be a hybrid conference. I canโt be there in person, but I am so excited to participate online. Thereโs some essential work here on queer archiving & librarianship.
The background is a bright magenta. At the center, there is a rounded rectangle with a white and pink gradient. On the left, a large pale pink circle contains the word "BIBLIO" in bold, outlined letters. Next to it, the word "GRAPHY" is in a large bold pink font, with the word "Queer" above it. A black circle in the bottom right corner contains the text "Registration required!" Below the central rectangle, in white text on the magenta background, is "QUEER BIBLIOGRAPHY IN THE SOUTH

The Diocese of Oxford has warned against a social media trend in which well-meaning people clean gravestones in churchyards. They say โMany churchyard monuments & gravestones are made from soft stone such as Portland limestone or Bath stone, which can be easily harmed by harsh cleaning techniques.โ

Or maybe watch the movie.

This is lovely.
Happy birthday!
For years, I have been working on a documentary project about the history of children's birthdays, and I am again putting out a call to anyone willing to share photos and videos from their childhood birthday for us to possibly use in the film. More details below!
Sending you a PM.
@yourewrongabout.bsky.social Your three-part series on Keiko healed something in me. I also thought that the project to rewild Keiko was a heartbreaking failure. Brianna made a compelling case that we DID improve his quality of life and learned a lot to help other whales in the process. Thank you.

I mean, I did when I worked in publishing, but my AWP experience was *very* different from the average attendee. For me, it was a chance to finally meet the authors whose books I'd been working on for the past few years. I looked forward to that part every year and still kind of miss it a little.
Not having kid myself, I can only imagine that the "sometimes people love each other very much, and they do the best they can, but it still doesn't work out" conversation is a much, much harder conversation to have with kids than letting them know that queer people exist.
To the best of my knowledge, my friends have had exactly one difficult conversation with their kids about my relationship:
"Are we going to visit Uncle Ron and Uncle [redacted] this year?"
"No, sweetheart. Uncle Ron and Uncle [redacted] are no longer together."
That's all I'll say about that.
Thank you!
Hi #EarlyModern Bluesky - did you know that someone brilliant has built working printing presses using Lego and they are trying to get enough supporters so that Lego will release it as a kit?
They look so cool!

A tray of lumpy apricot-white chocolate scones
Baking Day: Supplemental:
I let the dough get a little too warm/overworked and didn't have the stove hot enough for these scones, but they're still delicious and have a nice texture even if they're a bit misshapen. It's a good reminder that not everything has to be Instagram-perfect to be beautiful.
More about Cornell courtesy of Bella Somoza's research: blogs.cornell.edu/manystories/...
Picked up Documenting Rebellions (Sheffield 2020) again this morning and discovered that Cornell had gay student association pre-Stonewall.
I feel like the history of LGBTQ+ activism in Western NY has been severely neglected. There was a whole network of Gay Liberation Fronts on college campuses.
Ah. Looks like it's time for my biannual post about how I hate Daylight Savings Time and we should just make standard time permanent.

Do you remember the title of the memoir? Because that sounds very much up my alley.

Baking Day: Part I
The top crust got just a little bit dark for the cherry pie, but the bottom crust looks perfect.
