i think people with ADHD are often super good at OSINT because we spend our lives having to run forensic analytics on *ourselves* all the time, for stuff like "where did I leave the car keys two weeks ago"
A screenshot of a terminal window that displays the sentence "Welcome to Shell", written in all-caps, in ASCII-art, which is designed to look like it's bloody.
Is having a custom MOTD that greets you whenever you log into a machine necessary? No.
Did I waste way too much time coming up with the sentence "Welcome to shell", and making it look good? Maybe.
Do I think it's the coolest thing I've done all day? Yes, absolutely.
As a connoisseur, how would you rate the rats in Vermintide 2?
A group of self-described "gutter-pagan, mostly queer dirtbags" erased $1.6 million in local medical debt. They celebrated with an unofficial debt burning.
Being a functioning adult every single day feels like a lot to ask of someone

For those among you running OpenSMTPD: it is currently _completely_ broken on Debian Stable (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1037359). And it doesn't look like the fix will be merged.
Manually downgrading to the version from Oldstable works, but .. wow, that's bad.
"This order form is provided in a secure environment and to help protect against fraud your current IP address (127.0.0.1) is being logged."
I'm glad this shop system is protecting himself from defrauding himself. What a good boy.

I love when people ask me about work.
"How are you so good at this whole computer thing?"
"Remember growing up? You know, the whole lot - going out, having fun, parties, your first kiss and all that?"
"Yes! Of course!"
"I don't."

A screenshot from the website of "The New Yorker", showing their ad for a "flash sale", offering a subscription for $6. The screenshot includes a drawing of a stylized man crammed into an elevator. It looks fucking weird.
Whenever I see an illustration like this I want to talk to the management, and advise them to talk to their illustrators. Because they clearly aren't having a good time.
I had not, because my entire setup is built around Virtualbox, and I did not feel like rebuilding everything for a single virtual machine ..
.. which I ended up doing, opting for Hyper-V instead. Lo and behold, everything works like a charm. That was an exhausting afternoon. :)
As an exception, I need to run Linux with a full desktop in Virtualbox. Even with plenty of resources, the graphics performance is "stuttering when dragging windows"-bad.
Lots of searching revealed: apparently Wayland is not fully supported by Virtualbox yet.
2023 and Linux still hurts me.
I see my "Security Sexuality" keynote has just written itself:
What's a "Mum, come pick me up, I'm scared of fucking up that paintjob"-style called?
I'll be aiming for a weathered, cream stone look. Think Dark Angels Deathwing, with dark metal for railings, etc.
The terrain will be similar to Mars, looking forward to a "pigment on terrain"-debut. :)
The store page for a book titled "Operationalizing Threat Intelligence" on the website of a local bookstore, costing 62 Euros and 99 cents.
The store page for a book titled "Operationalizing Threat Intelligence" on the website of Amazon, costing 37 Euros.
I'm all for shopping local, I do it wherever I can. But there's simply no way for me to justify paying almost exactly twice the amount than Amazon. I hate it, I truly do. But .. yeah, Amazon it is.
Thank you! I ended this evening by basecoating it. Never have I ever seen a big bottle of surface primer being drained *this* fast.
A fully assembled Fortress of Redemption on a styrofoam plate with texture paste for ground detail.
I have no idea how I'm going to store it in my tiny flat, I have no friends that play tabletop games, yet alone Warhammer. But that doesn't matter. Storage anxiety is temporary, Fortress of Redemption is eternal.
