If one is lucky, they might find themselves on a hunt as a leisure activity! Hunting is Elzast's favorite pass time. Other activities include indoor games like chess and backgammon. In times of celebration, denizens will gather to act performances and conduct shows!
Elzast's main means of hunting is done through gonnefire and falconry! The hunting lodges also act as mews for the falcons. While falconry can help with hunts of smaller, consistent game, gonnes are used for larger, more difficult game.
Disclosure, I don't know a lot of Hungarian culture and history, and most of what I have learned is rudimentary. If I get anything wrong, please let me know.
Most inspiration for the village comes from middle age baronies and life in north-eastern Hungary, where summers are warm and winters suck.
Most buildings are made of wattle and daub with thatch roofing, though newer buildings are being made entirely out of stone to help with the town's growing infrastructure issues. Heat and building integrity has led to recent bouts of sickness.
Population of almost five-hundred, with one-hundred and forty-one buildings, nearly half of them residential. Elzast also features six farms, fourteen shops, three hunting lodges, two taverns, a temple, community hall, school, temple, and a castle!
Taisiya was not always Queen of Elzast! In fact, while she was the heir presumptive in her young adult years, she committed heinous crimes and was exiled. After paying penance and reaching atonement, she returned to resume her reign alongside the village's advisory council.
As such, Elzast does not operate on coin, but commerce is done through barter and trade. That being said, coin still managed to find its way in circulation, in which case the denizens are taxed, and taxes are sent to the Bozjan Restoration Projects in Gangos.
In the village's formative years, population reached around thirty. Now, after a number of years of prosperous growth, Elzast has a current population of four-hundred and ninety.
Elzast stands to uphold and preserve Bozjan traditions, forgoing the oppressive class disparity.
I want to type out a bunch of unorganized lore about Taisiya and her home village, Elzast. So I'm gonna do that. This is a thread of lore!
After Taisiya and her mother managed to skirt the Bozja incident, they fled north with other survivors and established a new hamlet called "Elzast".
