Yesterday, Luxembourg celebrated Buergbrennen, the traditional “castle burning.” This centuries‑old custom sets a wooden cross—or a wooden castle—ablaze to mark the end of winter and welcome the first signs of spring, which will hopefully arrive soon.
Today is the International Day of Education — a moment to reflect on the importance of learning. A society without education, or with poor-quality education, heads straight toward social, economic, political, and moral catastrophe.
