Pleasant morning, a bit windy but plenty of sun and quite warm in the sheltered spots. Pics are Long Tailed Tit, Grey Squirrel and Chaffinch at Cowpen Bewley Woodland, and Ruddy Shelduck with 2 Egyptian Geese at the sub station pools Seals Sand Rd.
R shelduck flown to join 3 x Egyptian Geese at far pool. Original 2 x Egyptian still remain on RHS of nearest pool. Thanks for finding Ian π

Stella conditions this am for a paddle on the Tees - Preston Park to Leven & rtn. Spotted 8 Roe Deer, 4 Buzzards, 2 Kingfishers & loads of Butterbur πΎ....also plenty of Giant Hogweed is starting to sprout β οΈ Plenty of sun π but the water temperatureπ‘is still only 8 Deg C π₯Ά

Spotted my 1st Butterbur of the year on the Tees this am....Also a few Giant Hogweed getting going β οΈ but great to be out in double-digit temperatures π‘. Also saw Little Grebe, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Sparrowhawk and Kingfisher. Launched from Preston Park.

Spotted a few plants starting to get going this am while walking along the river Tees from Preston Park to Bowesfield - Primrose almost in flower, Lords and Ladies(?), plus wild garlic which is a great accompaniment to sausage sandwiches π₯ͺ π

Signs of early sun had me heading out for one of my favourite paddles πββοΈ on the River Tees - Newsham Grange to Preston Park, 8mls.
The start is very close to the "Touchstone" sculpture.
Also had to undertake a spot of Wombling for abandoned camping gear π€¬

Great paddle in the sun this am on the River Tees, Preston Park to Yarm & rtn. Spotted plenty of birds - 3 Grey Wagtails, 2 Buzzards, 2 Little Grebes, 2 Ring Necked Parakeets, 20 Cormorants, 1 Common Sandpiper, 2 Herons, 3 Long Tailed Tits, loads of Mallards & 5 Mute Swans

Wow, would have thought the Ure would be frozen.....River Tees been frozen for last few days with only small areas remaining open for birds.
