You know, as long as the color switches between two complimentary colors it's not too bad. The darks were hell on a phone screen though
You know I found it really easy when it would switch from a blue to an orange, or really any complementary colors. It became really difficult when the two colors were super dark, mainly because there was a glare on my phone lol

First watercolor pass on these mermaids! I love the challenge of getting the main color and value decisions made within the first hour of work. Next I'll put masking fluid on the netting so I can get nice dark washes on the lower portion of the mermaids while maintaining the lighter lines.
And they're done! I'm so happy with how this turned out. I'm starting to feel a little more confident in being able to produce finished illustrations in traditional media, not just studies. 😊This is watercolor + gouache., with a little bit of color pencil and pastel for final touches.
