The streak of unimpressed listeners to those albums continues. Yeah, of all the vaporwave satire albums David made, between Floral Shoppe 2, Vaporwave is Dead, and the Vaporwave Trials, Trials is far and away the worst; the lousiest and the most unlistenable. Very proud of the review I wrote for it.

Well, I consider The Vaporwave Trials to be his worst (of what I will ever bother to hear in my life), but I wrote that review a week ago.

Today, I suffered a back-to-back of Autres temps, autres mœurs and The Phonograph. 🫩

Going from listening to two of the worst records HKE has ever produced and having to do write-ups about them to listening to Beverly Glenn-Copeland straight afterwards is like running through hot coal and then receiving aftercare and a cone of chocolate ice cream to boot.

I can’t think of a vaporwave album before this one that was simultaneously this multi-layered and intricately constructed, with ambient and broken transmission elements infused into it, and a concept that was as weighty as it was occasionally silly, for better or worse.
