I am working 14 hour days at the moment.

For this treat I’m going to save up the nicest of Hazy IPA’s and a sushi snack, an watch it in a glorious 1st Doctor splurge after an hour of jamming and practicing jazz scales on my SG.

Take all the oil and press it into a run of vinyl reissues of Barbara Streisand & Kris Kristofferson’s 1976 soundtrack to A Star is Born. Sell them on Discogs with a free shipping code, then people can buy them, melt them down, and power their cars with the result.

Global economic crisis averted.

The real power move is Iran being able to stop this weekend then start up a blockade and a series of low level drone strikes in September, seemingly turning the pain to the world economy off and on at will. Only danger is they loose the moral position of not being the aggressor but they won’t care

It is quite amusing to me how so many people don’t understand scale .

You would have to have a fleet of around 100k trucks running 24/7 down a road twice the size of the M25

Volumes of oil transitioning this strait are around 20 million barrels a day.

Roughly 70% world trade volume

Politicians need to start explaining this to voters otherwise they will get the blame for the rising cost of living. This is America and Trump’s doing.

100% the power of vibes, being β€œnice” and positive thinking

There is a reason that hypnosis story is still relevant as it says a lot about a belief in β€œmindset” which when applied to politics is about stating a position rather than action.

Andrew Gilligan is just wrong to claim IHRA definition of antisemitism not intended to curb lawful racist speech. That is its whole point

Its lawful, racist speech to say "Jews can never be loyal to Britain", "our leaders are controlled by a Jewish conspiracy" etc

A lot of people in politics get into it because they're inspired by a particular politician or a particular injustice at a particular time, and IMV part of being a good politician is ignoring that voice and governing for the times that you are actually in.

I am interested if anyone has a totally rogue revisionist history about why Harold Wilson should have sent the RAF to Vietnam.

Different sizes of oil tankers. A VLCC can carry around 2 million barrels of oil. ULCC between 3 to 4 million barrels. Current price per barrel around 90usd

Yep. I am a massive VAR defender because the tech is often just being blamed for the application of the rules. Abolish offside you can then abolish VAR.

Why New Labour was the last good government Tarnished by Iraq and Mandelson - but two new books show they made millions of lives better

Another great review of my New Labour book! Alongside Macintyre's book on Brown, by @rostaylor.bsky.social in @thenewworldmag.bsky.social. 'The Blair and Brown governments made people’s lives better. The same can hardly be said for any of their successors'.

NEW: After Gorton & Denton, how should we understand the threat to Labour's left?

Big new @persuasionuk.bsky.social report out with @38degrees.bsky.social on 'progressive defectors' - Lab 2024 switchers to Greens, Plaid, SNP, Lib Dems.

Who are they, who are they not & what's moving them? 🧡

Qatar warns war will force Gulf to stop energy exports β€˜within days’ Gas producer says it will take β€˜weeks to months’ to restore deliveries after Iranian drone strike

Make yourself feel slightly better, or at least differently depressed, about bleak global news by reminding yourself that Kemi Badenoch thinks the *only* reason Keir Starmer could possibly have had any concerns about this war is his electoral dependency on British Muslims.
