Itβs never too late to live your truth!
The war with Iran is a huge story, but this is also a gigantic story. Hopefully the NPR coverage will help it break through.
Now I'm both confused and picturing a Deinonychus in bright red liquid lipstick.

In landmark ruling, fed judge finds insurance company's (Aetna's) blanket ban on covering facial feminization surgery as "cosmetic" is sex discrimination under Supreme Court's Bostock ruling which cd lead to wider coverage if upheld on appeal.
With a lot of articles, framing and phrasing are EVERYTHING.
'No high quality evidence trans interventions helped' vs. 'evidence for helping trans kids is the same as many other interventions.'
'No evidence of an increase in trans youth suicides' vs. 'stats show an increase in attempted suicides.'
I think this story is a really good example for people to look at when it comes to understanding bias at NYT. It's not that the reporter, Dana Rubinstein, says anything outright false. But the framing, word choices, etc., add up to an unprofessional and biased account.
What The Food Babe hath wrought
AOC seems to be way ahead of her peers on this
"I know kung fu, bitch"
This is great! And it makes me think about how little weirdness is left in movies made for kids (bc they have to get past parents) There's so much explaining, so many things that barely qualify as plot or characters bc they're all just metaphors, so much conflict about feelings that is easily ended.
City of the Burning Queen
The Dems are overly respectful of seniority and I guess a lot of them approve of Schumer's 'try not to stand for anything and hope Trump beats himself' approach.
I love the Little Milton version of this song- check that one out if you havenβt heard it. It has a long monologue at the beginning that doesnβt really need to be there, but the performance itself is incredible.
Thank you, this is how Iβve always felt about this theory. Doesnβt help that itβs often attached to rumors that he visits sex workers and makes them sign NDAs, which seems like a stupid thing to do if youβre doing something illegalβ¦
I just wanted to refer to a cis woman that way- you so rarely get too π Anyway I donβt think she lives in the States anymore.
Lionel Shriver identifies as a woman.
YES, AND: possibly an editor there thinks heβs trans?
You hear it once in a while in the US, too. Not as often as you did 25 or 30 years ago, but sometimes you can see people learned the phrase from their parents! Also itβs not like a sugary coffee from Dunkinβ or Starbucks is fancyβ¦
Iβm starting to be believe that getting a job in the Trump White House is like getting tricked by a djinn or finding a monkeyβs paw or something.
I canβt believe weβre still being subjected to βcoffee is too fancy nowβ complaints 30 years after Starbucks took the Frappuccino national.
I met a man named Jeremiah.
I've always found it very funny that the first atheist I ever met had the name of a Biblical prophet. All I remember about our conversations about religion is that I very quickly went, "Oh, NONE of this makes any sense and it's obviously made up."
A Facebook ad by Cadbury USA. The photo shows two Cadbury crΓ¨me eggs; the one on the left is wrapped in purple and gold tinfoil and the one on the right is unwrapped, with a small bite taken out of the top. A bit of crΓ¨me is oozing out of the hole. The text of the ad is yellow, and it says, βName a more iconic eggβ π³οΈββ§οΈ
Iβve known a few.
'Evil' feels so reductive, but what else can you call it? Especially when so many of the people doing it are abusers of the same children they're isolating!
I refuse to think about my life like it's a tragedy. It's not.
But to do that to a child deliberately? To stop them from understanding themselves, and knowing that they're FINE and WONDERFUL there is a community of people like them, by banning the books and sites and resources that can help them?
...so even as I continued to interact with trans people online and read about them, I didn't even understand that I was trying to understand myself. I thought I might be the only one of whatever I was.
That's what these people are trying to do to every trans kid. It's beyond immoral.
I'm a few years older than Erin, but there were hints about how I felt by age 5. I didn't know trans people existed until I was more like 10. Didn't meet a trans person speak until I was 18. He was very normal, but by then I'd internalized the idea that trans people were delusional or worse...
The thing about 'Trump is only doing X to distract people from Y!' is that, if you do something unpopular to distract from another thing that's unpopular, you're just pissing off more and more people.
I had the same kind of thought driving on the New Hampshire/Vermont border once, in the late 2000s, and putting on the radio only to hear generic country pop. Granted that that stuff was very popular at the time- the homogeneity struck me.
This is fascinating. I remember driving in upstate NY 10 or 12 years ago and seeing a Confederate flag near a house. Living up here I see them occasionally- more on sweatshirts than next to houses I suppose.
