Like. I’m not personally anti tax. And any suggestion of going after the Very Rich is a win, whether it reduces my taxes or not.
But if we really want to talk about reduced tax burden for <100k, it seems like we have a pretty big budget line we could adjust to compensate. You know. If we wanted.

Pie chart of Trump Discretionary Spending Request 2023 compiled by National Priorities Project based on OMB discretionary proposal 2023. The largest wedge is Military, $726 billion, 65%. There are 11 other wedges, including food and agriculture, transportation, government, diplomacy and foreign aid, unemployment and labor, science, energy and environment, housing, discretionary health, education, and veterans benefits. None of the other wedges are greater than 7%.
Like, not to get super into the disc horse or anything, but I imagine we could afford not to tax QUITE A LOT OF PEOPLE if we bought fewer death toys

Tfw the question you want answered is something you no longer bother to google bc you know that the results will just be AI generated noise based on people’s opinions.

A tumblr post from orteil42 (cookie clicker dev) that says: am i losing the drive to create things for an increasingly alien and hostile world whose mounting taste for fascism feels like a cold metal vise around my skull or am i just lazy and unmedicated and looking for excuses
Sorry for the lack of activity it’s literally just this

Undiagnosed ADHD is bad, but I think the most damaging part of it is spending an entire childhood feeling like a Bad Kid no matter how hard you try not to be.
You can't pay attention (you want to), you don't try hard enough (you want to), and you waste your time on useless stuff (you don't want to).

“But we’re not responsible for other people!!!”
Human beings formed societies for many reasons but the most important is survival. And now instead of protecting our community members, we let a few dozen sociopaths exploit and torture our vulnerable neighbours.

Also: I think therapy as a profession over-marketed itself and unwittingly promoted the hyper-internalization & hyper-individualization of many global, collective and community problems.
Here is the deal: we don’t have to keep perpetuating this imbalance & harm
I facilitate spaces focused on this

Korean War pheasant farmer and a subsistence farmer/elementary school janitor. My dad didn’t have indoor plumbing until high school. These cosplaying politicians are using my heritage as a Halloween costume.

The thing THE THING that always gets me in these articles is the “if I had experienced positive portrayals of transness, I just might have…” and like. Dude. DUDE. I AM THAT PERSON, AND I AM VERY CIS. If you feel like that isn’t true for you—that’s a YOU problem you and maybe you should think on it.

I would love more legal support for extended chosen relationships (of all flavors) and fewer think pieces, but I will continue to support cringe magazine articles until morale (rights) improve

The scene from The Neverending Story (1984) where Artax drowns in the Swamps of Sadness.
Look, realtalk. Artax died in that swamp because he was a fucking quitter. THEY WERE WARNED.

We saw our first street plow late this afternoon. It got stuck.
After it “plowed”, the first car I saw try to get out also got stuck. 20+ minutes to reach the end of the block.
I’m good with everyone staying home this week, yep.

A very silly reason, but also (a) desk ergonomics and (b) I’m right-handed anyway, so it’s not a coordination issue, just that my mouse buttons have now switched fingers! 🫠

For the first time in 30 years, I have voluntarily switched my mouse back to being on the righthand side of my keyboard. Every. Thing. Is. Backwards.
Pray for me.
