Depends on the store. REI is definitely a niche experience, but to your point just as REI gobbled up the indy outdoors stores, so shall Amazon gobble up REI. Which could result in some rebound of indies, bc there is a demand in certain places for legit outdoors expertise at the counter.

Preparing reading questions for my students on James Scott's Seeing Like a State, and it's just full of little delights. Such as:

"Telling a farmer only that he is leasing twenty acres of land is about as helpful as telling a scholar that he has bought six kilograms of books."

I just love for us, and the team, that this delightful WBC is going to be a source of fun memories for the foreseeable future. Just think of the Hudler content alone, just from Vinny and Italia.

When I say officers must write and be published in order to contribute to the profession, I expect editors to screen this type of dumb shit out. Then again, if competent officers were indeed writing and contributing to the profession, this dumb shit would be drowned out by quality articles.
Alas.

It’s a cumulative effect. You hit one tater, you get a shot. Gives you energy. You then use the energy from the first shot to hit a second tater, earning a SECOND shot. More energy. Science.

With the war in Iran and Iran’s ability to use drones as a cheaper and effective means to inflict shaping and retaliation, I find myself thinking a lot of Horowitz’s elegant adoption-capacity theory on the diffusion of military power and its effects on interstate politics.
