I wonder which guys did NOT arrive at Wrigley Field today...
It's interesting that they recalled Hollowell instead of activating Tyson Miller from the IL...
Honestly, as they did with their previous 1B misses, perhaps Turner needs to find some time on the IL--or be outright released. I'd rather find a way to squeeze in ABs for Moises Ballesteros...
I have to agree with A, but not a fan of that cord.
Completely agree. Hopefully he goes down, gets the bat going, and finds his way back quickly.
The only logical explanation (maybe): they're going to give Workman a couple weeks of consistent ABs while Brujan rehabs at Iowa and Shaw tries to get the bat going--and then they can be in a better position to see what they want to do about Workman...
Exactly. I would say this makes little sense... But these are the Cubs, so that kind of goes without saying... In house, they have Turner (not looking like much is left in the tank), Berti, Workman, or calling up someone like Triantos or Dixon Machado... Not much there to choose from.
Unless they are about to trade for a solid 3B option... Huh? I think we're already seeing that Turner doesn't have much left in the tank. Time to give Workman a couple weeks before having to decide about offering him back to Detroit, while giving Shaw a couple weeks in Iowa to get the bat going?
I mean, 70 ABs isn't exactly a lot of runway for a guy whose history is needing an adjustment period. My biggest question: who's the better option? Workman with two career hits (both against a position player pitching)? Berti?
The issue is those two particular relievers: Pearson and Morgan. They both seem to consistently be either wild or torched, especially Pearson. Time to swap them out with ANYONE else from Iowa. I'm all for Luke Little and Daniel Palencia for starters.
The #Cubs need to give Tucker his big contract, which will free up their top outfield prospects for trades, and start looking for a top-ish rotation starter ASAP.
Interesting #Cubs side note: Brujan is not in the Iowa Cubs starting lineup for today's game. He also didn't play second game yesterday... And Iowa is off after today until Tuesday. Setback in rehab, or might a move be imminent?

Time for Game 2, Cubs vs Padres at chilly Wrigley Field!

Another nice chilly Opening Day. 45 degrees outside the ballpark...
Time for Sun Devils Hockey to rock the Mullett in it's first ever NCHC hockey playoff series, taking on the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.
Putting away the mic tonight and focusing on the clock as I take on the timekeeper role.
Kind of wondering how Thompson looked more worrisome this spring than Tyson Miller and his 27+ ERA...
Welcome, Brett!
I presume in order to be on the active/inactive Tokyo rosters, players have to be on the 40-man roster? If so, in order to carry Shaw, they'd need to add him to the 40-man roster...
Definitely why I prefer them to Berti being on the roster...
I have to imagine the Cubs want Alcantara to get regular ABs, which would tend to suggest Shaw would probably make the team. However, if Shaw, Brujan, and Workman make the roster, are they only going to carry 12 pitchers?
I'd still take him over Berti...

Trump is going to start WW3. He's going to bully the wrong soon-to-be-former ally, and get American interests attacked and Americans killed.
Trump and Vance clearly displayed for the world today exactly what they are: BULLIES. They wanted/expected the President of a foreign nation to come in and kiss King Trump's ring. When he wouldn't, they relentlessly attacked him and refused to let him speak.
When your friend tells you, a huge Cubs fan, thanks for your hard work by giving you Cubs Spring Training Opening Day tickets... Yup. You enjoy them! #GoCubs #sbucog #FlyTheW
The Red Sox are welcome to $40 million Alex Bregman. I'm more than happy to watch Shaw take his shot.
Unfortunately, no. They DFA'd Rob Z to open the roster spot for Ryan Brasier. This is just the end result of that process...
25. Micah would have turned 25 today.
It is still hard to believe or understand or comprehend why he's not here celebrating today.
All I can do is remember. Remember and try to spread those memories and his light into the future.
