First (sizeable) country in Europe to switch its copper network off.
Au cas oรน รงa n'รฉtait pas ton intention, Breitbart est un site d'extrรชme droite Amรฉricaine dont les "informations" ne sont pas forcรฉment fiables (euphรฉmisme)...
Interesting. I'd be curious to see what the business model looks like.
Of these 5.3 million fibre retail subscriptions, Telekom's share was just about 28% or 1.47 million. Telekom is the place where copper goes if it wants to enjoy a long life.
Some argue that there is no risk to our digital sovereignty because "business will always prevail", this proves them wrong. Public contracts in EU *must* be delivered by companies with no risk of extrajudicial interference (US, China, etc.) FR has been pushing for this at EU level, it's high time.
US Copyright Office prepublication: "making commercial use of vast troves of copyrighted works to produce expressive content that competes with them in existing markets, especially where this is accomplished through illegal access, goes beyond established fair use boundaries."

I would argue it makes sense (within reason) as a metric to assess operatorsโ revenue, not as a metric for international comparisons.
I imagine youโll have something to say about this @disruptivedean.bsky.social !!!
ร suivre donc.

I know. Could be a change in strategy, I agree, I would just find it surprising ;-)
An integrated TDC would seem to be counter to Macquarie's focus on infrastructure. Curious to see where this goes.
EU: #NIS2: The European Commission today sent a reasoned opinion to 19 EU Member States for failing to notify full transposition of the NIS2 Directive (Directive (EU) 2022/2555) into their national legislation.

In the context of their arbitration procedures, Arcep issued formal notices on three counts today:
- mobile coverage to all four national operators,
- FTTH completeness for three specific networks,
- coverage obligations for Orange in less dense areas.

Very interesting development. I've been wondering for a while now if EU regulators genuinely did not understand the name of the game, or if they have been deliberately looking away... I guess we will know soon.
Cell tower owners are now watching the fixed wireless access (FWA) sector as a major driver for their business. It's not entirely clear how that trend will play out in network operator economics. www.lightreading.com/fixed-wirele...
Whatโs N78 ?
Je demande ร voir. A lโรฉpoque oรน je passais du temps (trop) sur FB il รฉtait รฉvident quโils ne faisaient rien pour limiter le contenu illicite ou spam.
Cory Doctorow's (@pluralistic.net.web.brid.gy) account of "Careless People", a book by an ex-Meta policy employee is really worth a read, and not just because Meta tried to get it banned: pluralistic.net/2025/04/23/z...
A bit too early to really take stock, but this could be a sign of some degree of sobering up...
There is a serious lack of understanding of the cost models of LEO satellites. It would be really great to see some publicly available work on the costs, it would help policy makers and operators figure out how much of a threat this really is...
First round of DMA fines. I have to confess awaiting with some trepidation what will befall X...

I would imagine that this is related to a higher reliance on FWA solutions in rural areas than in other countries. Obviously, correlating this to public spending in connectivity would yield interesting results. I'd do it, but it's hard to access that data...
Meanwhile, this just out, perfectly encapsulates the situation: xkcd.com/3073/
I now had time to read the link to the article you sent. The number isn't very clear, but I understand it to be that upsell via the customer service is up 40%. That's frankly not bad, but I imagine probably amounts to a couple % overall sales increase (still not bad, but not 40%...)
Oh well, turns out it was all a bit of fun anyway...
