Live near Manchester (UK), work on citizen-led/co-op approaches to the energy transition as a way to tackle climate change. Interested in politics, urban design, anarchism, co-ops and football (not necessarily in that order).

The Line. A great symbol for our time: a multi-billionaire autocrat has a daft idea and billions is spent until he eventually realises it was complete guff. What a complete waste of time and money.

Meanwhile, Spain's massive investment in renewables is paying dividends now: with prices for Spanish industry and consumers low and stable compared with other European economies.

Why stop at being at war with one Middle Eastern country when you can be at war with two!
Yeah, the exact motivation seems at present "unclear"! π 'The guy likes bombing things' might be one explanation. I just hope it's a reminder of the strategic weakness of oil dependency. The quicker we reduce that the better!
I wonder if the price shock caused by a war in the Middle East, started by the US in part to secure oil (again) will demonstrate to the rest of the world that they should all be less reliant on oil?
Bloody weird sandwich with a double pack of butter in it!

Suddenly the involvement of Blair makes A LOT of sense! π
Green Menace π
I observed this man telling people how to vote during the election campaign. How could this happen!!!??? π«
Yeah, if that's Labour's strategy it's approach flawed because whilst the 'Macron strategy' worked for him in a presidential run off, it's not exactly working for him in the parliament is it?
...and great to see Reform get nowhere near winning. Even if the Labour: Green vote had split 50:50 they wouldn't have won βπ»
Amazing to have a Green MP in Manchester. Never thought I'd see the day! π₯³
Yes, they were 'bombed back to the stone age' but stone age people can be ingenious with advanced nuclear technologies...
To clarify, I am a Green supporter! I also know the constituency really well. The Manchester bit IS graduate heavy, not the rest of it. Shipping activists in from outside wasn't a tactic that worked for Labour in 2019, in fact it was counter productive. Perhaps a by election is different. π€·ββοΈ
Lovely as it is to see old friends, I just wonder if it's a winning strategy for the Greens to send well meaning, but also quite posh, activists from the south of England into Denton and Gorton? Maybe it will make no odds, but still.
Oh dear, this is unfortunate

Starmer just seems so adept at shooting himself in the foot. He was warned about this (like with Mandelson), the signs were there, but he ploughs on and we wait for the slow, inevitable, damaging climb down π€¦π»ββοΈ
All sounds VERY normal. Definitely nothing untoward being covered up ππΌ

Absolutely incredible curling. Curling does not get better than this.
Be aware: Anne is dangerous and should not be approached.

Although Anne was convicted under the dangerous dogs act!
Last royal arrest since...
I am beginning to formulate a theory that Keir Starmer is unpopular because he continues to do unpopular things.
