Oops writing (spoilers for Episode 1 of course)
It is definitely the type of story written hyperspecifically for its small target audience but it hits so unbelievably hard for me. Its use of godhood to represent subjective reality and nonstandard gender expression and how Charlotte has to explore to 'uncover' this within herself is insane!!!
Unbelievable how I was told this was the most nothing abstract part of the story and yet it's immediately such an unbelievably real and empathetic depiction of living through psychosis and sublimating this through RPG Maker Game References as escapism it's so fucking ghhfjg
Hello Charlotte Episode 1
hate when this happens
i first met her in a dream
Maria Ushiromiya and Beatrice the Golden Witch stand under curtains in front of the Golden Witch portrait and epitaph. Maria clings to Beatrice's dress and looks at a butterfly flying to the left. Beatrice rests her hand on Maria's shoulder and the other holds the curtain open, with her face being obscured by it and the butterflies on her side of the piece.
On the ninth twilight, the witch shall revive, and none shall be left alive.

The easiest litmus test to determine whether a part of Monogatari will be good is to ask yourself, is this about being transgender? See for yourself how cleanly the results map onto Kanbaru and Nadeko and everyone in Kizumonogatari
The cruelest humans rejoice in being unlike you while they make it a holy mission to seek you out and ruin your life.
I love how at the end, Kiss-Shot says she was once a human too even though that means nothing to a 500 year old vampire, and Araragi replies "Who cares?"
All vampires are transgender
To become a vampire is to be marked and damaged. A monster that can only exist at night, at the expense of 'normal' people. They expect you to give into base temptation anyways, so why not let it out and call it your nature? Nobody wants to be you – even your brethren hate you and will hunt you down
Rewatched Kizumonogatari and I was impressed by how empathetic it is to Kiss-Shot in so many subtle ways I didn't catch on first watch… The scenes of her casually describing centuries of loneliness as a vampire, met with Araragi just asking when he can become human again, are so loaded in hindsight
A GoodReads review of light novel 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya'. "My initial impression of Haruhi was that she is an emotional, temperamental brat, with little reason for her haughty attitude. Yes, she's beautiful and excels at studies and athletics. But otherwise there's nothing distinct about her, other than her loathsome personality. She is rude to people because they're not special enough for her. They're not aliens so why should she waste time talking to them? My response to such a query would be, 'What, exactly, are you bringing to the table, missy? Why should a visitor from another planet want to talk to you out of the approximately seven billion human beings on the planet?'"
I was ready for thoughtless complaining obviously but this Haruhi one is so fucking funny to me it's like they specifically wrote it to attack her insecurities as much as possible 😭 The "out of the approximately seven billion human beings on the planet" comment is so targeted
Yes!!! I really adore that everything is so downbeat and emotionally believable. The off-kilter tone does a lot for the impression that, while being so chill and cozy, Bee is kind of a sad lonely person who's using her lifestyle to cope in a way?? It's really really clever
I think there should be more stories which deliberately play on mid-2010s internet isolation to create their emotional atmosphere. Chaos;Child was definitely the best ever at this I need to continue that VN really badly
Started watching Bee and Puppycat recently because of a friend and because I had nostalgia for watching the Nintendo Video pilot on my 3DS. This is the most awkward-cute '#relatable' 2013 show ever and I kinda quite like that?? It has actual interesting writing too but the vibes are so enchanting
Hi !! I feel like we haven't talked in a while even though I always quite enjoyed your presence in conversations so I hope you've been doing well :)
Hi ily!!

Right. Here's your to-do list for the next two months to put you in the best possible position to survive what's coming:
1. Renew your passport (or apply for a passport) this week even if it is not expiring in the next four years. Renewing early will give you the maximum 10-year validity period.
Can't emphasize enough how the Haruhi series is one of the most clever commentaries on how fandom/in-universe misogyny align. The 'alienation' central to its premise (both natural and supernatural) is the perfect integration of this, not to mention its allegory for ableism therein
The story is incredibly aware of this. It is a perspective she runs up against over and over from her classmates, even her supposed allies. And seeing the story forever reject this cruelty, to the extent that *they* have to be the ones to change to get through to her, is really beautiful
It's not even like she never gets better! She's always gradually being humanized and unlearning her internalized misogyny and solipsism. But nobody gives a shit; they want her put in her place FAR more than they want her to actually change, and that's just fuel for the fire
Saw this post around again and realized one of my favorite parts of Haruhi is how she's immune to the corrective humiliation fantasies these people have for her, literally as an ontological narrative rule. The story will never give her the voyeuristic 'punishment' that misogynists crave
[aitsf] this is the thread of really dumb date/kagami doodles i’m not tagging all entries & this will be updated with every stupid thing i feel the need to visualize
I was struck by sudden inspiration to create this #hnk #housekinokuni #宝石の国 #landofthelustrous

Starting Monogatari Second Season and seeing almost every girl from Bake appear in the first arc – even by shoehorning in Hachikuji and Kanbaru – EXCEPT that Nadeko is nowhere to be seen fills me with such a foreboding sense of dread. What is she up to. I feel like she's killing people offscreen
