As many people in the previously linked thread have said: if you grew up in MAGA land (as I did), you know these people. You know they're mean & small-minded. Just listen to what they say!

Many voices have come forward to say as much but you will never, ever, ever hear from them in the NYT.

depends on where the disagreement is - I could date someone who isn’t on the exact part of the left-liberal spectrum as I am as long as we shared basic values (e.g. trans rights)

conservative? absolutely not

When all of the people in charge are tiny men with tiny egos and tiny dicks, you get this. Men trying to pretend they're tough and strong, when being out of range. Fucking cowards.

Trump has denied that he is considering an emergency declaration to seize control of elections — but proponents say the draft order has gained traction within the White House.

"Last word I had was that the order had made it to the White House and that it had the president's attention," Canova said.

Iran cannot participate in the 2026 World Cup after the United States killed their leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the sports minister, Ahmad Donyamali, said on Wednesday.

The United States and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran nearly two weeks ago, killing the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader, leading to a region-wide conflict in the Gulf.

“Considering that this corrupt regime [the US] has assassinated our leader, under no circumstances can we participate in the World Cup,” the minister told state television. “Our children are not safe and, fundamentally, such conditions for participation do not exist.

“Given the malicious actions they have carried out against Iran, they have forced two wars on us over eight or nine months and have killed and martyred thousands of our people. Therefore, we certainly cannot have such a presence.”

I was there today & spoke w local police officers who told me they were there to protect the demonstrators, who by the way were very peaceful.

The incident started when ICE ran a car off the road & there person in the car jumped out and ran into a nearby house. That’s when neighbors stepped in.

-1.4 million people getting affordable housing
-1.1 million hungry seniors fed
-0.8 million children given free child care

Which is unforgiveable, because this part of the disaster was 100% foreseeable.

I have become enmeshed in the lives of my neighbors in ways I never considered possible. It’s hard to imagine living life in this way where someone who was a stranger two months ago depends on you for their survival, and I can only imagine it’s even more difficult when you’re on the other side.

I know it feels like the day-to-day intensity of the ICE occupation in Minnesota has calmed down, but there are so many lagging problems that need solving, right as people’s attention goes elsewhere. Financial assistance, like help with rent, and legal help for the detained. These horrors persist.

Can I just say: As weary as you may feel, do not turn away from the degradation and desecrations, the violations and the violence. This is what the lawless Trump regime hopes--that our fatigue will make it easier for them to consolidate their power.

Mamdani Chooses His Words Carefully After Alleged Terror Attack

One day the NYT's editors will read these stories again and be ashamed of themselves. Mamdani called the attack "heinous," "criminal," "reprehensible," "terrorism," and "the antithesis of who we are." The insinuation that he's conflicted about this is disgraceful. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/09/n...

Other rich countries just hold elections & none of this is ever an issue. We don't need to tolerate our neverending struggle to defend access to suffrage & our neverending fight against the total nonexistent of mass voter fraud. We could just be a normal democracy.

Trump told us who he was in 2012. Will we finally believe him today? Trump has always been an election denier. He has always vilified voting. He has always started with lies, escalated to the courts, and ultimately embraced violent rhetoric.
