Code examples for the Python package elfen: # initializing extractor extractor = elfen.Extractor( data = df, language = "en", text_column = "text") # extracting a single feature: ttr extractor.extract("ttr") # extracting a feature area/group: readability extractor.extract_feature_group("readability") # extracting all available features extractor.extract_features()
Extracting structural/linguistic properties for large text datasets can be annoying. Existing tools either are not maintained, do not scale, or do not cover extensive sets of linguistic features.
For this reason, I implemented π§elfen, a Python package for efficient linguistic feature extraction

Hi everyone! We are the Evolutionary Modelling Group!
We are interested in many topics, from the evolution of microbial mutational robustness to the evolution of language and culture in humans. We rely on a variety of methods, both computational (evolutionary simulations) and mathematical.
I taught (and co-taught) a course on human population genetics from 2000-2024. Having retired, I'm now making all the course materials public: github.com/alanrogers/p... #popgen #evbio
Finished teaching my first seminar course today! Had tons of fun introducing my students to the rational foundations of human-like cooperation. Now that the course is over, I'm sharing the syllabus more widely!
Have we figured out what Kant said yet?

Book cover of βThe Scope of Evolutionary Thinkingβ by Thomas A. C. Reydon, in the Cambridge Elements: The Philosophy of Biology series. Against a black background, the title is surrounded by Ernst Haeckelβs illustrations of marine organismsβradial, symmetrical forms in vivid blues, oranges, reds, and greens.
New Cambridge Element in the Philosophy of Biology seriesβfully #openaccess! @thomasreydon.bsky.social explores how evolutionary theory crosses over from biology into other fields, showing how these crossovers embody a broader style of reasoning: 'evolutionary thinking' bit.ly/48z3h36 #HPbio #evosky

"Mr Edgelord Alpha Spike 7878" - from a still from some TV show, some guy is saying this in the scene. A lady is looking at the guy, she looks very impressed. I don't know what the show is but it must be very good.

I've found it kind of a pain to work with resources like VerbNet, FrameNet, PropBank (frame files), and WordNet using existing tools. Maybe you have too. Here's a little package that handles data management, loading, and cross-referencing via either a CLI or a python API.
Delighted to speak in Tokyo next October at this fantastic event ! π
Thank you for having meπ!
Will be talking about embodiment and Artificial Agents
