One message from GVH (among many) that's stuck with me is that trying to break the tension with humor can just make your friends feel isolated and belittled. If your friend is taking something seriously, you should too, even if it's uncomfortable, cause their passions matter.

It's easy for me to say, cause I wasn't harassed. But I'm more bothered by the normies who decide to dunk on GVH without ever giving it a chance, than the people that explicitly hate it for having a queer cast. Like you're "supposed" to hate GVH to prove you're worth taking seriously or something.

But that doesn't cover all of it. A disheartening number of folks aren't dismissive out of hate, but out of incuriosity. Asking a question, and rather than dwelling on it, using it as a cudgel against the game. Cause seriously engaging with art makes you a loser, I guess.

Goodbye Volcano High is saying so much, but some folks are too offended by a cartoon dinosaur's pronouns to hear any of it. It's pathetic.
