Could a βsmoke alarmβ for airborne contaminants monitor and improve the quality of the air indoors? (Where Americans spend 90 percent of their time!)
An interdisciplinary research team led by @linseymarr.bsky.social will create such a system that could cut respiratory illnesses by 25 percent. π
Thanks for all your hard work!
Fantastic plenary presented by Ann Dillner on speciation monitoring networks. So. Much. Data. #AAAR2025

My Giants won after being down by a run or two all game, 2 outs, top 9, a hit to tie the game then a home run to break it open. Gave up one in the 9th but it didn't matter. Go giants!

Screenshot showing an email from NASA SMD stating that the external advisory committees for the 5 NASA science divisions are being eliminated
These were *volunteer* science advisory committees that provided NASA with independent perspective and community guidance ... explain to me how eliminating these is a way to "reduce waste and abuse"
This is a great program that benefits everyone. The only reason to do this is to hurt people.
The mass firing of both new hires and recently promoted senior staff within #NOAA, including mission-critical and life-saving roles at the National Weather Service (#NWS), is profoundly alarming.

For those fired, my department at UNC has 3 faculty openings, and climate change is key among the areas of interest.
We will soon start interviewing, but we will gladly consider late applications and encourage you to submit soon.

Thats adorable!
Todays the day - #WorldVentil8Day 2024. We need good ventilation for our health and the health and sustainability of our buildings. Ventilation is critical for managing exposure to indoor pollutants, controlling infection spread, keeping damp and mould at bay, and also helps productivity and sleep!

This was my consolation in 2020. Can you imagine the vitriol she would have faced for making (good) decisions about Covid?
Yeahhhhh I started getting those a bit after renewing my license one year. I was around 33 years old and NOT happy about it.
If it helps, my go to phrase is just "Hi, I don't think we've met, I'm Anita" and gesture at my nametag. It doesn't have to be a complicated topic out of thin air. Also paradoxically better in larger groups since 1-on-1 conversations are usually a priority.

I still have cough drops and day/night cold medicine (probably expired....) in my toiletries bag from always getting sick when I traveled. Not used since 2019!
I saw that and took a pic too! I mostly thought I couldn't believe my eyes because I was like 55 hours into my supposedly-30h trip home.
