*Please do share this with anyone who has been impacted by these illegal layoffs. Some of the prompts will be about writing resistance, and the whole offering really is about creative resilience, and who doesn't need that these days?
Trudeau: "I want to speak first directly to the American people. We don't want this. We want to work with you as a friend and ally. We don't want to see you hurt either. But your government has chosen to do this to you. As of this morning, markets are down and inflation is set to rise dramatically."
Next week! Write joy and solace in kindred community! Sliding scale. Please reach out if you are impacted by the illegal firings or in a DEI "reduction in staff." If you've lost your job thanks to performing the service you've provided to this nation, join us for free!

TARA CAMPBELL The Orb Every time I stir the biomass, I feel lucky to have been chosen. The stirrer is flat and smooth, made of blonde wood; the biomass is thick and smells of overripe fruit. I look down into the buttery orange swirls in the bucket, and it amazes me that just a few months ago I was helping a friend paint her new nursery walls a similar color. But before her baby arrived, I was selected, and now I'm here making history. I walk across the dusty field to the wooden shed in our small corner of the "estate" —which is more like a compound--and press my palm to the scanner, one of the Master's few concessions to modern technology. Electricity and running water seem almost out of place here. Everything else on the compound is rustic: the big farmhouse in which he lives; the bunkhouse where the astants sleep; a couple of small cabins, one of which is crammed with materials, the other which I claimed for myself by...
Y'all, this is one I'm really excited about

*To give you an idea of our wide ranging reading, here's a list - past Poet Camp Book Club books have inspired some amazing and now, award winning poems! We've read Rooted by Lyanda Lynn Haupt, A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle, Inciting Joy by Ross Gay, Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson.
Wintering by Katherine May is full of strategies for getting through difficult times - whether that's having a hard time writing, coping with the news cycle, or personal difficulties in the weeks and years to come. I hope you'll join us! Read at your own pace, and write along when you're able.
Tomorrow Poet Camp's winter Book Club, Wintering by Katherine May begins again! This is a generative, slow moving book club. Month 1 - pre-write questions go out. Month 2, prompts based on the book. In Month 3 we gather on Google Meet to discuss/readaround. ❤ (poetcamp.com/poet-camp-bo...)

*Please reach out if you find money is a barrier to joining, and I'll get you squared away. I want a house with a crowded table, as the Highwaywomen so eloquently sing!
From a Poet Camper - Debra Darby gave me permission to share this blurb about our recent time together: "I wanted to thank you so much for the craft classes. They were rich with information, ideas and prompts. Your material is so helpful and the presentation is so rich and unique."
Still time to join us on Boxing Day for the 5th annual Boxing Day Cozy Writing Retreat! Come and go as you're able, or stay the whole time. We'd love for you to join our kindred spirit family! ❤

Portraying the writing life as constant daily output is a harmful stereotype. But I do believe in the power of routine. Bite sized, manageable, a reliable meeting point for you & your muse. Anyone want to practice with me for 15 mins a morning in Dec? poetcamp.com/december-jum...
Thank you!!
Adore this book!
This. I can't recommend enough reading & editing for journals if you get the chance. It shows you how much time & work goes into the publishing process. Also that rejections aren't a reflection on the quality of work, because there's often hundreds of submissions to sort through.
Looking forward to being with kindred spirits next week, and to Nickole Brown joining Poet Camp to offer such an amazing and timely workshop! sarahannwinn.substack.com/p/more-than-...
But I really, really encourage folks to create the spaces you want to see in the world. Don’t wait for someone else to give you permission. Always happy to talk and share resources.
