Watching this awful people experience the “and then they came for me” part in realtime would be delicious if it weren’t horrifying.

This is the first encaustic I ever did about 5 years ago. It’s actually a figurative piece. 🤫
It’s about time to invite people over again so we’re forced to get our shit together…
Our shoulder blades were once our gills… they’ve been redesigned for the fast ball, throwing, not like apes. We hurl while they climb. Even our bodies are made for killing from a distance.
Wonderful I love it. Clay is a great escape medium for me too

What’s all this then? 👀

Starlings keep dropping these on my head…
and everywhere here,
usually after they’ve eaten all the yummy bits (seen here) off…
seed’s hard as a rock…
I love it all…
want to drop everything and just pick up each little birdmouthed bullet.
A love poem:
Sleeping in. Sleeping in. Sleeping in, sleeping in.
Whenever I come on here to follow a friend from the other platforms, I post a little sumthin:
Today’s fantasy is to start the Hot Art Collectors Club - with perks like annual prints and group shows of work the collectors have purchased. Let’s get buying original art on trend.
Here’s how my quiet year is shaping up… over the next 3 months I’m making 6 pieces for a group show, a massive installation proposal (1 of 5 finalists) a center piece for a different installation, a portrait commission, a show of work from my flat file and teaching a 6 week figure drawing course🤷🛌🪦💀
I’ve been trying for years to teach myself to use my non dominate hand for the more laborious parts of art making and let me tell you, it really makes me respect children’s patience.
Ooo that’s a good black… but is it really a deep gray? I don’t have a picture handy, but it tends to run a little purple in undertone
My favorite black is a mix of Paynes Gray and Alizarin Crimson
Forget the artist rule to never use black. Never use “beige” instead use red and green together.
Thanks. And thanks for sharing. It’s hard to feel secure in an “original idea” but also copying is how we learn… literally everything we know, so if it happens, I hope it feel like growth=learning
Sounds really fun
If this is going to be an engaging platform we have to make it so.
Here’s something I’ve never said on the other social… or anywhere: I’ve been depressed about my creative practice for about 18 months. It’s been really rough. Will you tell me something about you?

The secret to having it all is realizing that you do. - things my studio walls say
A detail image of an encaustic painting with a star, multi-color layers and a little carved set of iridescent ocean waves
looking forward to getting back into precious little encaustic moments next year.
