that's a healthy way to go about it imo. creation is meant to suit you first, and then you just let it appeal to whoever shares your acquired taste. like yeah we make art to connect with others but at the same time, the part of yourself that you're trying to offer in art should be purely you.
i avoid broad labeling terms altogether. like yes, i will mention themes and make sure certain stories will be labeled nsfw appropriately, but i never really thought much about dddne as a label on my works, even if it applies. but i dont really care for creating anything with labels in mind.

Theo is meant to be some weird anthropomorphic take on a jersey devil but parts of me want to go back and make his design a little more creepy. I've never been that much of a horror artist but for him I think I should make an attempt at something more uncanny.

anyway, i just wanted to draw him with his wings. they were amputated at birth, but i like to think about an alt timeline where he's not so suppressed.

theres one movie whose name slips my mind that features a mermaid type creature and a man in a lighthouse. i only remember trailers about it but that's the only one that immediately comes to my mind.
