Learned today that the Chinese word for a particular type of New Year cake, 发糕, sounds very similar to the English “fuck off!” If spoken rapidly and at high volume by a native speaker

This is most shocking when that speaker is your father in law, to you, in the middle of the market

TSA guy unprompted told me that I went through the metal detector perfectly so like I am winning at this airport thing

So I have two takeaways:

1. Perhaps my fiancée was right, and I should not eat an excess of lychee

2. “30 to 100 fruits” so 29 lychee in one sitting should be fine right :D

Apparently it makes your nose bleed like some sort of fairy curse!

I was extremely excited to discover that my grocery store has fresh lychee again

I was somewhat perturbed to discover that it must not be lychee season yet because the quality of the lychees in the bag is…variable
