I don’t know if I’ve heard a more braindead interpretation of the situation. If you have a problem with thieves, you’ve got to tackle the underlying cause of their thieving and/or beef up security. Both solutions are on the Democrats. Getting mad at the thieves does nothing.

I don’t recall it being that cut and dried. I actually remember progressives backing Biden to the very end, and it sounded like the donor class were the ones who didn’t like Harris. Who knows why. Harris always seemed like the obvious quick choice to me. She just turned out to have bad instincts.

I noted before that Biden won and he certainly wasn’t a progressive. But he embraced Sanders and actively tried to work their ideas into the plan. I think you’re underestimating just how little Democrats have to do here. The standards have gotten so fucking low.

I voted for Harris too, and so did a lot of people who had misgivings about her and who she seemingly didn’t care about getting their vote. That was her strategy, which we were told we must embrace in order to win, and look what happened.

Schumer and Jeffries have no discernible vision of their own of what the country should look like beyond, “We should be in power, not Trump” and with Schumer, I’m not even sure he cares that much. They’re not a true opposition and they can’t win, so no, they’re not a viable alternative.

So interesting to watch this only work in one way. “You lost, and we’re not going to listen to you, implement any of your ideas or do anything to try to win you over, in fact we’re moving to the right, but if you don’t vote for us, it’s sabotage.” vs “You won, but you’re too far left for us.”

This is such a fascinating pathology…that the party is never wrong in its strategy or message, and therefore never has to course correct or turnover leadership. It’s always the voters or meddling outsiders who just don’t get it, right?
