Glad weβve got @adamkinzinger.bsky.social βs eyes on the sky so I can concentrate on my last minute Christmas shopping! This week on The Bulletin: Is it UFOs over New Jersey? Santaβs headlights? What gives?

βIf Mangione refuses to be claimed by an ideology, or if he reveals himself to be a well-adjusted kid who became deeply mentally unwell, that may end up being more unsettling than if he is a calculated operator or fringe radical.β

I lost my taste for the middle in 2002 when I got food poisoning at a Red Lobster after dinner there with J.I. Packer. I donβt think I ever apologized enuf to him for that bad meal.
Watching coverage of the hearing on transgender youth medicine didnβt make me cry. But there was a moment in todayβs Bulletin recording on the topic where my eyes teared up enuf that it was hard to see my notes. Episode drops tomorrow, yβall. Donβt miss it.

It would be a great book for both, and, Iβd add for men too. When all come to see themselves as integral caregivers, women will be supported even better.
Lots to think about in this piece.
Weβre talking about Hunter Bidenβs pardon this week on The Bulletin. What do you want to know about it?
This is infuriating to me. An example of horrific voyeurism and shoddy journalism. Asking a family member for a public response <4 hours after a violent death is immoral. No one in raw shock should be asked to speak on the record in a moment like this.

There are those who think Trump's election means that now nothing matters. They're wrong. Everything matters now. The binary, singular choice is behind us. Now the choice facing each of us is what kind of person will we be in the season that lies ahead.
βNo reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunterβs cases β¦ can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my sonβand that is wrong.β

Iβve been working to eliminate all plastics from my cooking. But I need a good, easy solution for school lunches. This convo would have me to believe my kid should bring Pyrex? Feels like a disaster waiting to happen.

Very uncomfortable! Years ago, I had a run-in with a football coach after one of his players plagiarized and I failed him on the assignment. I was pressured to make accommodation so he could qualify to play in the next game.
On this weekβs holiday episode of The Bulletin, @mikecosper.bsky.social @clarissamoll.bsky.social and I talk about family estrangement, why itβs hard to find contentment, and I take one more shot at Mike for going to that Tammy Faye Bakker show:

"A big part of becoming a teenager is figuring out how to fit in. Sometimes that means papering over the stranger parts of your personality, suppressing your uncommon enthusiasms, but sometimes, if youβre lucky, you find a place where you are accepted despite your idiosyncrasies."
