Warmly-dressed birder on snow-covered bridge with cold mist rising from the water
Great fun on the Whitehorse, Yukon #ChristmasBirdCount today... warmed up to -32C, so no worries! 12 species in my zone, and at least 5 more that I know of counted by others. We'll end up with a total in the mid twenties as usual, I am sure! Will update when I know more... 1/2
Three Suffolk Shrikes - I have a signed, limited edition giclee print of a painting of the 3 rare shrikes in Suffolk this autumn (Isabelline, Turkestan and Brown). Just 50 available and only Β£50 window mounted (add Β£12 for P&P): PM me if interested and please repost, thanks
A recent arrival to my local beach following the rough weather.
It's been a long wait but an advance copy of 'Grasshoppers' has finally arrived. It's been worth the wait with excellent printing
Female Eurasian Bullfinch in spruce tree: Small chubby bird with black head, grey back and smoky pale pink belly
Happy birders!
A carload of somewhat crazy birders drove to the beautiful little town of #WatsonLake, #Yukon today to see the female #EurasianBullfinch that has been visiting a feeder there... First record for Canada! (that wasn't an escaped cage bird) #birds #listers
A photo I took of a freshly washed bee, who is feeling particularly proud of his fur
Bafflingly there are still people out there in the world who think being passionate about nature is βkind of weirdβ. or βa niche interestβ. These people have it all wrong. Nature isnβt some quirky sideline to the main business. It IS the main business.

Thanks Guy evocative photos. I went to school nearby in the 1960s and we were fortunate to have nature study lessons here. In spring it would be alive with the sound of Cuckoos, Warblers, Nightingales and Yellow Wagtails. I was also taken to see breeding Cirl Buntings at nearby Houghton in 1965.
Very misleading, and more sleight of hand by a bus company, I gave up driving nearly a year ago and public transport has been a real learning curve. I spend a lot of journeys hoping I have the appropriate ticket for the route and destination without incurring a penalty fare.
Cedar Waxwing fledglings in our elderberry yesterday--even the late starters are leaving the nest this time of year!
The confiding local Ravens are now a daily part of any esplanade walk, mainly found targeting susceptible beach goers or cafe customers for food.
Comma one of many seen along the old Railway Trail today.
