Another thing that makes TPM unusual is that 91% of our newsroom's income comes from memberships and reader funding. Your support directly pays for our staff to have salaries and healthcare. It puts money in our freelancers' bank accounts.
TPM is a strange, special place to work. We're small and scrappy and built around some big personalities. We have a ton of editorial freedom and independence. Staff stick around. And we're lucky to have close relationships with our readers, many of whom have been reading the site since the 2000s.

I’ve been a subscriber for many years, and a reader since the hey-day of blogs.
I've been a TPM member since 2016 and you should seriously considering becoming one, as well. It's never been more important to support independent journalism.
Just do it. You won't look back.
