Jones is an awful player, so it’s no surprise we took him off at halftime.

It doesn’t matter if the defense is set or not with this backline. The only way to solve this problem is to bring in 2 or 3 athletic center backs.
My prediction is we will bring in one center back this window. Then we will have a small overhaul during the summer. Remember there’s going to be a pretty long pause during the summer, so we will have plenty of time to get ready for the restart.
Of course they will.
Nancy was also taking over from one of the most boring styles of play. This is basically still Nancy’s team with some slight tweaks. The attacking looks very promising especially with the possibility of a Gazdag replacement.
Not sure how that’s relevant. We had one point in Nancy’s first two away games as well. This team will look very different in the next weeks and months, just as it did under Nancy.
You don’t implement relationism overnight. This will take time.
A good portion of this fanbase is just completely clueless.
This team is going to look very different in the next few weeks. We will be fine.
What are you even talking about with Abou Ali?. Just talking nonsense for no reason…
I think the plan will be to bring in a new DP in the summer. I’m not sure if it should be a center back, or a midfield/attacker. The options will be much better in the summer, and it gives time to assess the squad.
Poch has been using a 3 back recently, so he’s been playing a very similar role to what he did under Nancy. He looked poor in the national team at LB. I just don’t think he’s good enough defensively for that amount of defense responsibility. In a 4-2-3-1. I think his best position is RW.
His next contract will be his prime years. He already one of the best midfielders in the league, so I’d be shocked. I could definitely see Arfsten moving, but I’m also not sure where he fits for us. If we play a 4-2-3-1 he too poor at defending to play LB. That really only means he can play wing.
He’s out of contract at the end of the year. If he stays in MLS I’m 90% sure it will be on a dp contract. If not he will end up in Europe.
I don’t think we will be able to get Berhalter without using a DP slot. I’d consider him as a dp anyways though.
Nancy was a big fan of him at Philly. Some things just don’t work out, he takes slot that’s too important to be sitting on the bench. In that case get rid at any cost.
I think Zawadzki can do that role if we can bring in some good center backs behind him. If not I’d love a DP 6/8. If we bring in a cb soon, I think things will become much clearer over the next few months.
I’m willing to give Gazdag until the summer to show his worth. Otherwise he needs to go. Him not starting the first game isn’t a good sign, and he looked terrible last night.
That could be an option as well. We have plenty of options. Maybe we add two cbs over the course of the season, and move Zawadzki to midfield. Which frees us up for another DP attacker.
I’m open to anything. We 100% need a cb this window. From there we can assess over the next few months on what else we want to do.
If we can get an elite DP CB who can play 90% of games it might be worth it though.
I think he can work with either. The big question is if Gazdag doesn’t get going by the summer we will move him on, and what will we do with a dp slot? We have a lot of attacking talent, so idk if we need another DP attacker. Which leaves cm or cb, and I think you will get more value out of a dp cm.
It was better in terms of controlling possession, but we weren’t threatening the opponent. The first half was good. We just need to sort out the midfield/defense so we can defend in transition.
I think long term we want to transition into a back 4, and I think Amundsen will look better at LB. We 100% need one center back. Depending on where Zawadzki plays we might need another.
We definitely need a cb this window, and depending how these next few months go we might need a defensive overhaul.
I don’t think Gomes is going to be very helpful at defending counters. He’s quite slow.
Surely it has to be a center back?
I’m sure we will play both, but Herrera said that they have been training in a back 4, so that seams to be the preferred setup. Also, Moreira played mainly on the right side of the 3.
You said Amundsen would likely be dropped for Farsi. It seems like the plan is to primarily play a back 4. If that’s the case I would assume Amundsen will start at lb. I think we will want to make sure we have a left footer at lb.
I doubt we play a right footer at lb.
