That's awesome! Is this part of your doctoral work, or more out of a personal soul-searching of meanings?
I am curious for several reasons. e.g. 1) I am also doing doctoral work, and 2) I have a complex (estranged) relationship with my family, and do plan on exploring at some point
It seems like an amazing journey for sure, and I am happy it has been so profound for you as you make more connections!

Okay, so I tried my best but didn't really manage to skywrite all that much...!

At #OAME2024, Curtis Carmichael gives a charismatic, entertaining, and thoughtful keynote about an expansive view of mathematics with many nuanced examples rooted in innovation, technology, and the living of life. #edusky #iteachmath #mathsky #mtbos
A gem of a talk with lots of reflect on.
Judy @btcthinks.bsky.social also relates to @crystalmwatson.bsky.social 's session earlier in the day in terms of thinking about belonging. How exactly are we crafting classrooms (and processes of classrooms) as an inviting space? #edusky #mtbos #iteachmath

Liljedahl also has previously written about storytelling along with Rina Zazkis in this 2009 book. #mtbos #mathsky #iteachmath

As teachers tell stories, there are some additional affordances for building relationships, rapport, having contexts that students can think with, and more. It is a deliberate choice on Liljedahl's part to not include explicit mentions of stories in the 2020 book. #iteachmath #mathsky #mtbos
Judy Larsen and Maegan Giroux, in a session about Crafting Engaging Stories for Thinking Classrooms, talk about the power of storytelling as a consequential pedagogical decision for students to work on tasks with #iteachmath #mathsky #mtbos
I think it'll be the first time we meet in person! Looking forward to chatting!
It's skywritten in the clouds and not carved in stone! Definitely a work in progress!

So... #OAME2024 is today. Maybe I'll try live tweeting today. Or perhaps "sky writing", a word that @jennalaib.bsky.social collaborated on. Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones today! #iteachmath #mathsky #mtbos
It's coming to fruition, @marybourassa.bsky.social !
The shift feels timely for me personally. Also - glad you were able to support that student even during trying times. I stand with you and your colleagues there!
I have read the book from Karim, but I haven't seen Engaging in Culturally Relevant Math Tasks before. I will definitely check it out, thank you!
I recommend that book on your desk for sure. I find it offers lots to consider with respect to implementing tasks with students.
Thank you! I will check it out!
Would love more of your thoughts and experiences on that! I did something similar years ago (and often).
What are some resources, papers, etc. that explores pedagogical thinking and decisions in teaching about social injustices in mathematics classrooms. Notably ones similar to the first 4 chapters of this book. I.e. not simply lesson plans.

Love it! I did something similar but didn't think of having it be a possibility between log and exponential. It helps a bit with the limited options.
Thank you! I'll check it out
So let's see what happens with this reset for me!
But if that was/is my goal, then that involves an increased level of immersion compared to using these spaces as dumping grounds of ideas. Thus asking questions either as an independent post, or bugging people in their posts in forms of questions...etc. were all actions that led to my appreciation
For me, something (blogposts, twitter, and now BlueSky) like this are a space for public self reflection and for engaging in conversations with those who are interested. Beyond a space for resources, those conversations were something I cherished.
A side note that I see hashtags don't work in the same way here... so that's something!
Since I should be a part of what I want to see, I thought I might begin by throwing questions and thoughts out there. What are the aims of my friends here at #iTeachMath #MathSky #EduSky #MTBoS ? What do you wish to find here? How would you like to find what you seek?
Hello #iTeachMath #MathSky #EduSky, going to restart my existence on social media, and hoping to find traces of the old #MTBoS here (when it was at its infancy). Specifically, the community through dialogue, and the learning through reflective exchanges.
