One last question actually. What shape do you usually use for inflows? I tend to default to cylinders but I'm wondering if spheres are better for this task.

I've been trying to get a similar sort of effect on and off for about a month now. Do you just have an inflow inside the mouth and leave enough space to escape or do you have a trick for it?
