End of a great week of science at the GRC Lymphatics 2026, where I had the chance to show our latest results, connect to international scientists leaders in the field, and even make some friends along the way.
Looking forward to the next #GordonConference event!

I was honoured to be one of the two presenters awarded for the best scientific talk at the GRS Lymphatics 2026!
I must say I'm as grateful as I'm still stunned!
Glad to share our work from Ruhrberg lab at this GRS/GRC showing a Csf1r lineage contribution to dermal #lymphatics

As a great way to start the new year, our paper has just been published!

We defined pathways driving early hematopoietic development in the mouse embryo and identified and validated new markers for hemogenic endothelium and hematopoietic progenitors.

Glad to share our latest preprint.
We used single-cell transcriptomics to investigate differentiation trajectories during yolk sac #hematopoiesis and we identified and validated new markers for hemogenic endothelium and hematopoietic progenitors.

The Richmond 1OK race is over, and I had a blast earning this stunning medal! But the race to save our world is still on! Let's keep running it! Thank you all again for your support @wwf.org.uk

In the past 4 months I've run 220 km, raising Β£211 in support of @wwf.org.uk to fight climate change and preserve nature. Thanks to everyone who helped with a donation, you've been amazing!

Our editorial on the haemaropoietic microenvironment from embryonic development to aging and disease is now published!
It opens the special issue that I've organised and co-edited for the journal Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences.

Run 135 km so far, only a couple of minor injuries, and collected Β£118 to help WWF preserve nature and fight climate change!
Can you help me reach Β£200?

People worldwide are already feeling the effects of #climatechange: droughts, fires, flooding, heatwaves.

I'm fundraising for WWF to disinvest from #fossilfuels and leave future generations a better planet?

Please donate today, no amount is too small!

Giovanni - Run for the Planet Help Gio Canu raise money to support WWF-UK

And how can you help:
You can cheer (or pity) me for doing this. But most important, you can donate to WWF!
No amount is too small, every pound or euro matters!
And you can easily donate at the link below!
You should "RUN" there and have a look 😜

Why am I doing it:
I'm not simply running to be the new Forrest Gump, but in support of WWF, a foundation that for many years has worked hard to limit the damage we have been doing to the environment and to save the planet.

What is it:
From now until September I will run or hike a total of 200 km (for our British/American friends, this is roughly 125 miles). This is in preparation of a 10 km race that will take place at the Richmond RUN-FEST in London on September 14th.

Congrats @giocanu.bsky.social from UCL's Ruhrberg Lab for spotting a new hematopoietic embryonic cell type!

Our findings not only point to #paraxial mesoderm as a likely new source of embryonic haematopoietic cells, but may also explain the bone marow phenotype sometimes observed in paediatric patients with alveolar #rhabdomyosarcoma

GIO & GIN FUNDRAISING PAGE Over the years, a lot of progress has been made in the fight against cancer. However, every year more than 150,000 people die of this disease, a number that is still way too high! To bring the number ...

End of this dog-walking challenge.
We passed the 100km (60miles) target by a few km, collected more than Β£200, and together with the thousands of dog walkers, we raised more than Β£650.000!!!!

The quality of the journey is more important than those fleeting moments when you actually arrive at your destination, because most of your life is the journey. There will always be problems to solve and something to do.
You can’t wait until you solve your problems to be happy.
