I couldn't find a tool to plot different #neuroimaging data in one consistent style, so I made one! Meet yabplot (yet another brain plot) - a #Python package for (sub)cortex & tracts.π§
- Simple API
- Built-in atlases
- Custom atlas support

Do you use the @alleninstitute.org mouse brain connectome?
In work led by Vikram Nathan we found issues with existing connectome representations, fixed them, showed the impact on connectome measures.
Do you wonder what they are?

It's important to note that when discussing brain structure-function relationships across scales, that the definition of function changes with scale. Keep it straight! @sbe.bsky.social link.springer.com/article/10.1...
1) participants' metadata, in particular demographics, are a bigger risk for privacy 2) we have created a new metric k-global that gives you the relative importance of each variable for anonymity and 3) BIDS compliant little python package to help everyone with data curation.

Inter-individual variability of neurotransmitter receptor and transporter density in the human brain | doi.org/10.1007/s004...
How do neuroreceptor distributions vary across people?
Ever wondered how the Dalmatian Dog effect works?
The human brain can quickly learn from a single experience and generalize it to related experiences β an impressive feat so far not matched by AI.
Our new paper in @natcomms.nature.com reveals how this works.

Now in press one of my last PhD projects! We traced the neurobiological profile of fMRI BOLD signal variability, a measure that has been related to age, behaviour, disease status, but had not yet been fully contextualised within the brain's multiscale architecture. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Preventing data leakage in neural decoding - "for autocorrelated neural time series, standard k-fold cross-validation can dramatically overstate performance." www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
Preprint alert!!! We recorded directly from the human ventral tegmental area (VTA), the principal source of cortical dopaminergic innervation, while patients performed an instrumental learning task. π§΅π

Interpreting EEG requires understanding how the skull smears electrical fields as they propagate from the cortex. I made a browser-based simulator for my EEG class to visualize how dipole depth/orientation change the topomap.

This paper had a pretty shocking headline result (40% of voxels!), so I dug into it, and I think it is wrong. Essentially: they compare two noisy measures and find that about 40% of voxels have different sign between the two. I think this is just noise!
Great opportunity to come our way and do some cool science with us. It's not just neuroscience - see the posting for the key research areas.
